That's a lot of knobs. Coil split? Tone and volume? Either way, that thing looks sleek. Way too much bass for me; I have a base-level Jackson bass that I use for recording and writing, that's all I need.

It's less than what it seems, but I feel you. I'm 90% a guitar player, but do occasionally like recording stuff at home and this is one of the only real options for tuning bass down below A. This one easily gets down to F/E.godofdeadlydeath wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 6:40 am That's a lot of knobs. Coil split? Tone and volume? Either way, that thing looks sleek. Right to left it's Volume, a 5 notch pickup selector, then the 3 band active EQ for the darkglass preamp. The toggle is between active and passive mode.

Re: Gear thread
Oh that's sweet. Seems like an incredibly versatile bass then, especially for recording purposes.

Since there's no plugin thread I will babble about this here
ran out of space on my HD and went to clean some shit out. Ran a space analyzer and found that one of my chiptune VSTs had created several log files which were about 30gb each
like almost 1/4 tb worth of text making nintendo blorps

Jesus that's a lot of space. Can you get rid of the log files and still use the plugins? I don't know shit about how that works.

We'll find out deleted the fuck out of that shit. I assume it's literally all logs and has nothing to do with the operation of the softwaregodofdeadlydeath wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 12:04 pm Jesus that's a lot of space. Re: Gear thread
I've thought about getting a shitty used 12-string acoustic just to have one, even though I know I'd barely use it other than the occasional recording part.
The last guitar I bought was a $179 Jackson bass a couple years ago and it's surprisingly good once I set it up. The stock single-coil pickup is decent enough, and the intonation and stability is good.

Re: Gear thread
my usb interface died. I haven't looked into this stuff in years. I can't do behringer any more because they always break on me.
I need a like 2 channel mic preamp thing. Motu M2 ? Focusrite ?
I can't hear little audiophile differences preamps. I just need it to not be noisy and not break and work good with the computer and decent latency (is that even important?)

Re: Gear thread
I have a Motu M2, it's fine, flexible, simple. And USB powered, so no extra adapter.

Re: Gear thread
I got the EHX Pitch Fork +, and it's pretty sick. The X-mod function wavefolds the 2 pitch voices into FM distortion skronk, sort of like a ring mod but way better. It's a bit menu-divey, which I had reservations about; I love the wysiwyg simplicity of the original Pitch fork and am still keeping it, but the plus is certainly worth learning and not too hard. It will definitely have a regular home on my bass board.

Re: Gear thread
Neural dsp posting three 25 minute long mini movies as a launch for an extremely overpriced and under powered unit doesn't appear to be exactly resonating well with their user base who already feel like they've been fucked over multiple times by this company. Of course one of the shitbags from Chappers was involved with it.
