i dont think its hallmark-y in the slightest actually. i think its legit good as hell and has a lot of low key subtle or innovative ways of doing basically the same old stuff. i agree it is kinda strange though especially how it was marketed compared to how austere and mature it is. i dont think its going to change anyones life or anything and i'm only a few episodes into the first season buts its surpised me a lot

and its also visually beautiful in a way that a lot of tv like this isn't. consistenly great color. well lit etc cinematic!

The Naked Director - eps 5-7
Jesus Christ, things turn dark in episode 7. The chaotic happy go lucky atmosphere from the first couple of episodes is almost gone, it's now more of a cross between character drama and hard boiled gangster shit.

Frasier 2023 - episodes 1-3 - 9/10
Just found out they made new Frasier, didn't expect much, turns out it's fucking fantastic. Frasier's such an amazing character, and most of the new characters work well I think. Looking forward to all the old characters turning up again.

Alex Garland is becoming one of my favourite directors. Love the sound design in his films and in this series, it manages to make you feel really uncomfortable. Can't wait to see Civil War.

Binged it yesterday and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would also.

subbing Niles with his insufferable son though was an enormous letdown, and no Daphne…hopefully just a ball tease for season 2. Nice to see Kelsey still kicking ass even if he is a right wing nut. Freddy taking the place of his grandpa’s dynamic is a tad lame, but he’s dead so what ya gonna do I guess
