It probably sounds weird, but if I needed to have any bones removed, I’d like to keep possession of my body parts

I'm randomly discarding chunks of bone now apparently, had to get a wisdom tooth pulled a couple weeks ago too, and just spit out the last fragment.

last Thursday, I get into work and think “gee, I feel a bit shit,” get through our board meetings, go home. I wake up in the middle of the night with a fever and swallowing hurts so bad it feels like a knife to the neck, zero exaggeration

Next morning I go to urgent care, they pump me full of fluids, send me home with antibiotics, steroids, and a referral to ENT; by Tuesday night I can’t even swallow water

I go to the ER that night, they do a CT, find a massive abscess (heh great band) in my tonsils; fucker being they can’t do a tonsillectomy at that point because sepsis risk. they rejiggered my antibiotics, and now today I feel… human again.

That was a pain and discomfort I wouldn’t wish on anybody. In past work I dealt with a few cases where people cured their trigeminal neuralgia with a bullet; for a few seconds there, I understood. I overstood. Not the right rest stop, not the right highway.

ENT referral is still on track. They want to cut out my tonsils for good sometime in December. I couldn’t be happier.
