Because bringing up a young kid still in development could result in him Cameron Maybin'ing that he never develops his potential. He's going from facing veteran minor leaguers and undeveloped pitching prospects (who he is not hitting well) to the best pitchers in the game.

Tigers had to pay Porcello an extra $1 million+ because they brought him up early. Lock ups don't always occur before the player is arbitration eligible, especially if they'll only be 23 by that time.

Single A has the best pitchers outside of the majors just because the are wild doesn't mean they aren't throwing ML stuff, he wasn't striking out and he was still getting in base do BA isn't always indicative of how well he was doing when a lot of it was luck but if you want to samardzija this place up again go ahead

.333 OBP and a 1:8 BB/AB ratio isn't exactly having a reservation awaiting you on first base.

Uh, yes that's exactly what it means. If they were throwing MLB-level stuff, they'd be...in the MLB! Unrefined and underdeveloped skills are what is worked on in the minors; the same reason it's premature for the Nats to blow their load and put a 19 year old prospect in against the likes of Halladay and Kershaw. He's never seen pitching at that level.

And don't try and go claiming victory on Samardjiza. He's had one damn good start, a good start, a mediocre start and an abysmal start. I stand by my claim that is not consistent middle of the rotation material and time will tell.

there is nothing more stupid and annoying in baseball than the Nationals ''win'' horn

Bryce Harper was batting .250 in AAA with 1 HR and a meager slugging percentage. might be their worst idea since the win horn...they could wreck the kid.

The Nationals were already prepared to start him in the majors out of spring training and yea he has had a slow start in the minors but it was also only 70 at bats. I'm not saying he is or isn't ready but I'm not against their decision in the slightest bit. I'm sure they have a lot more insight as to whether or not he is ready than someone on the internet looking at numbers that's all I'm saying.

And yes Sam, Single A IMO very much so has the best talent outside of the majors anything over that in todays game is basically career minor leaguers and organizational depth

even baseball prospectus dudes think it's too early for Harper. if anyone should be up, it's Mike Trout. he's tearing AAA up and the Angels need his bat

Even taking this as true, he's doing mediocre against Single A pitching. Can he adjust and improve against even better pitching? The returns v. the risk is too much to take this chance so early.

how fucking awesome is this for baseball fans...

Bryce Harper and Mike Trout brought up on the SAME FUCKING DAY.

both of these guys could be among the greats, and they both know it. bringing them up at the same time creates serious real life performance drama.

I fully believe Bryce Harper will be a good major league player. Also, can MLB just give Matt Kemp the MVP award now?

No?
The only question that I thought was hard was do I like Kirk, or do I like Picard?

Pujols has been a notorious slow starter, but everything else about him is declining. Swinging at shitty pitches, swinging and missing much more, walking less.

The Angels sucking this bad so far has been almost more satisfying than the Rangers' awesome start.

when the Mets play the Astros, the two tv commentating crews should just do one broadcast all together. best two non-Scully crews in baseball

also, pretty obvious Darvish is the real deal. watched that game silent on a miniscreen but he has silly pitches that make batters look dumb. did his last start too, and he's cut down on walks

Mike Trout has hit at least 5 line drives right at fielders since his recent callup with nothing to show for his effort. dude can hit. I predict he has more major league success this year than Harper.
