I didn't think it was that great when I reread it as an older person maybe I need a 3rd try as an elderly person

Jordorowskys dune 8.5/10. Like Ross said I don't think the film itself would have been very great but this was still radd. Kind of a too many cheifs/supergroup scenario

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire ('23 | 115min) - 3/10 - Morbid curiosity got the best of me when we watched this. It's another installment of shareholder cinema: Poorly written plot packed with manufactured nostalgia, but mostly aimed at kids. Best parts: When I recognized James Acaster from Taskmaster, Kumail Nanjiani wasn't as annoying as I usually find him lately, and I suppose it was nice to see that the guy who played Walter Peck returned to the role that cursed him (people yelling "that man has no dick!" on the street... etc).

Summertime (1955) - Beautiful romantic comedy film with pretty good comedy and dialogue that pretty much shits the bed at the end. Katharine Hepburn is great and also terrible. 6.5/10

The Iron Claw ('23 | 132min) - 7.5/10 - I had no knowledge of the tragic life of the Von Erich brothers. I remember seeing them in wrestling magazines and occasionally on TV in the 80s, but I was mostly into the WWF. I've read a little more about them and the movie fudges a lot of timelines/details in service of the plot, but doesn't seem like a disservice. Now to watch some vids on Bruiser Brody.

If anything, the movie is somehow less depressing than the real story (they excluded another entire brother in the movie, but it made the story flow better).Hunter wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 5:17 am The Iron Claw ('23 | 132min) - 7.5/10 - I had no knowledge of the tragic life of the Von Erich brothers. They also excluded the father's choice of using the Von Erich name in order to be a Nazi heel, but they did a pretty good job of establishing that he was the real curse of the family. Success at any cost! Another odd choice was to portray Kerry's fate as injury related, but I get it - that was what was in the news.godofdeadlydeath wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:29 amIf anything, the movie is somehow less depressing than the real story (they excluded another entire brother in the movie, but it made the story flow better).Hunter wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 5:17 am The Iron Claw ('23 | 132min) - 7.5/10 - I had no knowledge of the tragic life of the Von Erich brothers. The movie did show the brothers partying a bit prior to Kerry's injury and prior to David's death, but yeah they made it seem like the injury really accelerated things for Kerry, even though he was off to the WWF and was the IC champ.Hunter wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 8:10 amThey also excluded the father's choice of using the Von Erich name in order to be a Nazi heel, but they did a pretty good job of establishing that he was the real curse of the family.
