Knox Goes Away - 9 - I was enamored by the last shot of the film, and then the credits roll and it turns out Michael Keaton directed the thing. Bravo.

Out of the Furnace - 9 - hard shit. I wanted to watch a Ben Affleck movie after Knox Goes Away so I searched for "Affleck" and this popped up because of Casey. Christian Bale fucks the violence

That was one of the darkest films I've ever seen. Lots of little scenes that hit extremely hard, like the gardening lady matter of factly scattering ashes on a patch. Or the grandma rushing to close the windows because she's disgusted by the smell. Left the cinema with a range of emotions, but most of all felt disgust and shame.

No, I was looking for that or Argo. I'm sure it'll come up soon. I watched Triple 9 today. I was digging it up until a certain point where I ADHD'd out. Then I looked up and it was over.

I have the same feelings! I don't like irony-watching. Even if the movie is bad or has aged poorly, I sit there and find something to appreciate. Old genre effects are still cool as hell to me even when they aren't convincing. I already know movies are fake.

I don't really like mst3k and similar stuff because i wind up getting interested in the real movie and want the jokers to shut up. It's especially egregious in those cases because fucking reddit-type nerds always come off like they feel they've outsmarted the media... hahaha I'm so smart, this thing is beneath me. Ha ha ha this movie is trying to be sinscere how lame

Fuck off virgin let the Dracula talk instead

there are a couple of genuinely comical moments that are mildly unintentional but this crowd didnt laugh at those as hard as the other stuff. they laughed at the AMAZING shot at the end when the creature has placed the damsel on a stone altar in his underwater cave lair!! insane

all of the underwater stuff is just so fucking cool and beautiful and even when they'd over lit the guy and you can see him too well i'd just think to myself "man this motherfucker is swimming his ass off in that thing this is so inspiring for some reason"

some girl leaned over to her bf and said something to the effect of "of course all the non white characters are going to die first" and he gave her SHUSH

dead ass if I paid hard earned cash to watch a fucking crusher like Black Lagoon only for the glory to be the drowned out by some mouthy hipster cunt feeling yassified because she can laugh at something thats old and with low production values for being old and with low production values I wouldn't hesitate into morphing into that Dark Knight shooter kid for one fucking second

The mundanity of the horrors was far more affecting than I was anticipating. You've met people like this in every day life. They weren't bloodthirsty murderers or fascists frothing at the mouth about genocide. They were fairly normal people doing almost normal things in a circumstance that they didn't necessarily control - they lived their lives. The fact that it was relatable in any way is what left me feeling ill.

Body Bags ('93 | 94min) - 8/10 - This is not a great movie, but I loved it. It's one of the few John Carpenter movies I hadn't seen, but I'm glad I waited. I think Carpenter as a "cryptkeeper" guy would have felt goofy to me in the 90s/00's - and I wouldn't have recognized nearly as many cameos, which there is a shitload. Without those "oh shit, that's _______" point-at-the-screen moments, it's kind of a standard Tales from the Crypt/Creepshow type flick, which is still a pretty fun time around Halloween.

Ha! I love the chapter where Stacy Keach is going bald with Debbie Harry as the nurse.

Terrifier 3 - ehhh - if I was 15 I would have fucking loved this. At 41... I'm not as into investing 2.5 hours in a movie where evil wins. I do appreciate how disgusting this was in relation to it being a profitable film groups of people go to watch in a theater in 2024. Outside of the turtle scene from Cannibal Holocaust, I think the final shot of the dude he chainsaws in half is the most vile thing I've ever seen in a movie.

Yeah, the contrast between the mundane everyday lives of the Höss family and the insane mass murder happening right behind the walls next to their house is very effective. What a horrific film.

Oh man, that episode has so many great moments. Even the German dub (which I usually despise) is awesome.

Finished Triple 9 - 9
Criminal (2016)- 👍🏼👍🏼 Kevin Costner rules when he's got an edge and isn't trying to be Montana incarnate. I liked being in the world this film established and the plot twists it wove in. It had a happy ending that didn't feel too forced. Never heard of it before Max recommended it, but it was a nice surprise

Wow, been a billion years since I’ve thought about this, never mind actually watching it. My memory tells me it was essentially The Birds with trucks, am I mistaken?
