Wow, been a billion years since I’ve thought about this, never mind actually watching it. My memory tells me it was essentially The Birds with trucks, am I mistaken?
The Birds was fucking annoying. Whoever thought their squawk effect's high-mid frequencies was something acceptable to put all over the soundtrack must have been half deaf and fully retarded. Max O's plot primarily revolves around defending against the siege of a single location (despite having a handful of scenes elsewhere), too, which isn't how the Birds rolled

Yeah, completely forgot all of that. More likely the Mist or 39 Days of Night, sort of? Maybe I can trick the wife into watching it. If there’s a love story she’ll go for it.

I watched gremlins 2 the other night (100% sober!) And though I remember it well I still cannot rate this fucking thing. Is this the most ridiculous movie ever made? Like who is this even for?

Did you notice the twin scientists are the same actors from T2? ( the guard at the nut house who gets stabbed in the eye by his doppleganger)

The Endless - 6.5/10
Not sure what this was trying to say. Wasn't really scary, and wasn't a real character piece, but has a pretty unique trippy vibe sometimes.

The Substance ('24 | 141min) - 7.5/10 - I had a lot of fun with this flick and I'm a little surprised with how much fanfare it's gotten. The editing style is not my favorite (reminds me of Natural Born Killers' with it's choppy cuts, exaggerated zooms, etc), but I feel like it's mostly done in service of the themes that it's constantly hitting you over the head with. To call it heavy handed would be an understatement. The unhinged nature, practical effects and performances made up for that, IMO - and I'm sure it would be a lot more fun seeing with a large audience.

I agree, that flick doesn't pay off in a way it's building towards. I felt like it had some creative stuff going for it that kept me engaged, but overall forgettable by the end.

The Sixth Sense - 9.5/10 - God damn, this movie has aged incredibly well and Bruce Willis is even better than I remembered. I was bawling my fucking eyes out when he went to the kid's play at the end of the movie and was just beaming with happiness and pride. It made me think of what current Bruce is going through and how time catches up to all of us and it just made me an utter wreck.

It's so fucking good!! Rewatched it myself a few years ago, not having seen it since the initial vhs release. Blew me away, I mean I expected it to be enjoyable but the fucking thing is actually a classic. I guess the rest of Shyamalan's career retroactively colored my perception of it.

I was a dumb kid the first time I saw it, so i never really appreciated that THE KID IS GIVING THERAPY TO THE MAN!!! Really cool idea

Crawl - 7.5/10
Have been a fan of Alexandre Aja since I saw High Tension (which is an amazing slasher, but make sure you watch the uncut version) and his The Hills Have Eyes-remake, but his later films have been merely ok (I've seen Horns and Oxygen, which he made after Crawl). Crawl was an excellent nerve-wrecking thriller that makes the most out of its basic idea. CGI first isn't totally convincing, but you quickly get used to it since the film makes it clear from pretty early on that people will get seriously fucked up by the 'gators and from then on it's butthole-clenching tense.

Man, we watched Terrifyer 3 in a pretty full cinema (which was pretty bizarre by itself) and every time the clown did something disgusting to other characters the audience reactions were really interesting: from laughter to groans to short screams (By female audience members) that honestly sounded pretty terrified

Skinamarink - 0/10. Fuck this shit. If they had spent even half the time they did showing a barren wall or the ceiling this movie would be 40 seconds long

Yeah i found it kinda pointless. Definitely effective, it made me miserable... but that ending was weak and made it all feel meaningless.

FUNFACT part of this movie was filmed at an abandoned stretch of highway here in PA which i visited and hiked around on. Very fucking cool, basically a haunted highway. They have fast food restaurants out there that i haven't seen anywhere else in 30 years

The ending was identical to the book.
