Bruce Campbell was one of the voices on the vinyl record telling them to stop performing the incantation suggesting that Ash was still time traveling and was living as a monk in 1934 or whenever that disc was supposedly recorded. It was a pretty forgettable generic horror movie. I did kind of like how it started at the end showing how they were still fucked and everything they went through amounted to nothing.

Its a bit unpaced in spots and can feel self indulgent in the way a lot of great 70s stuff is but yes its devastating and has basically some of the best screen acting ever. God love the crazy bitches man

Id seen a good share of the cassavetes stuff back in my early 20s but in the last couple of years on rewatches they are all hitting me 50 times harder than ever. Almost night and day difference. That type of filmmaking feels so alien in the current state of the big picture of The Landscape blah blah and is just even more special than ever to me now

Watchmen Chapter 1 - Well I suppose it's about time it was done this way. Shot for shot, line for line, strictest adaptation ever, even moreso than The Maxx. The Dave Gibbons style looked good and could have been used a lot more extensively, but it was enough that they mostly just applied it to Dr. Manhattan. Completely satisfied with it, nothing to complain about really.

Speaking of The Maxx, I rewatched that a few months ago and it held up shockingly well.

I know I like it, but I can’t remember, does it have a satisfying ending or was it like Spawn, where it’s cool but I don’t want to rewatch it because there’s no ending.

Okay, because I also read the comic and the comic probably went too long, but had a tight wrap up, the cartoon covers about less than half of the comics. I think.

From what I remember (I read the comics when they originally came out in single issues, so it's, erm, been a minute), the cartoon ends at the same point as the original Julie story in the comics, so it does wrap up nice and neatly, the comic just went on longer, about other characters. It's also generally shorter than the comics and generally a bit more overt about the fact that it's really about sexual assault because it has less time to get to the point and everything's condensed.

Production IG is responsible for some excellent anime, like the second ghost in the shell movie. Wasn't interested before, now I am.

Alien Ramurass - A trite fanboy expedition that feels on par with those awful David Gordon Green Halloween flicks. A product embalmed at birth, genetically engineered in the womb to avoid creativity.
