that video would have been fine, even if plenty of people would have gone bonkers at first blush

the lyrics put consent front and center if one is reading it in a literal & sex-based way (and it seems like the same applies in the video), even if that's not what the song is actually about

You can't have my heart / And you won't use my mind but / Do what you want with my body / You can't stop my voice cause / You don't own my life but / Do what you want with my body

I think the terry richardson sex abuse allegations are what got it shitcanned; she knew what she was doing working with kels in the first place (which is probably the sketchiest part of the whole thing)... she should face criticism for the choice to work with those dudes, but this smear campaign against a video nobody can judge for themselves is horseshit

I agree that it would have been a shitstorm, but for stupid reasons that don't have to do with her artistic intent or the work itself

the "can I walk again" is explicitly linked to her hip injury in the video's context; she has previously used pregnancy as a signifier of the artistic process and it's even better here because it becomes a physical burden - the video would have been fine

ensuing shitstorm would be somewhat justified based on the two rapey dudes' involvement, though

I think this is actually the anti-Blurred Lines - that song seems like "just some fun" on the surface but is creepy as hell if you think about it; DWUW seems a bit off on the surface but is totally sex positive in a technical sense, and isn't even actually about sex at its core

'can i walk again' is by no means explicitly linked to any one thing, that's a faaaaaairly convenient interpretation is it not..

listen, I'm not saying that THAT aspect wouldn't be there and be hilarious/offensive, I'm just saying that the stupid articles are omitting that info

for me, the video would have been a fucking hoot, I'm sure

the best part is the two date rapists doing critical analysis of this disturbing content

I've still never seen a single minute of pre-Gaga opener, but I would not have missed that :invcross:

momoiro clover z opened for gaga the other day in japan. which is kind of funny because they're about 1000x more popular than she is there.

Between this and her Thanksgiving Day Special, she really IS a subversive, post-modern force to be reckoned with.
ENDLESS straw-diva with you... only goofs describe her like that. she is an artist and an outstanding pop performer.

since when has an album of old songs been shameful? I'd say the christmas carols album is closer to what you're talking about

the version from Kill Bill is still my favorite, but this is certainly not a shameful performance

Yeah the Nancy Sinatra version is the best in my opinion. That sounded pretty good though. Her vocals sounded good there, and she looks kinda hot with the dark brows and the giant Jewfro wig.

I almost posted that... might still have if you hadn't done it

I had that shirt during high school and because there was some latin on it, I would wear it on "foreign language" day to get out of uniform

All you dudes that need fresh masto batin' material might want to check out American Horror Story Hotel. I've seen two episodes. She as naked and sexing as none premium cable naked and sexing allows. Plus, she's covered in blood a lot, you fetish bastards.

I'm disappointed she didn't dress up like the bad guy in Raiders Of The Lost Ark again.
