my younger kid asked me to get for him because the older one is playing it. i watched the trailer and was put off by the you know shooting yourself in the face part. am i just being a weeny? it seems bad to me that children are playing this. i can't find any negative talk about it on the normal internet. so i'm asking you sickos.

my first thought is if a kid is young enough to need to ask dad to buy him the suicide simulator in order to play the suicide simulator he definitely isnt ready

Had to look it up. I’d say go with your gut, but probably check in with the mother first. He’s already seen his brother play, so the cat’s already out of the bag, though. What a game for kids to be playing. What happened to Mario, Sonic, Rayman, or any of those assholes?

Would you be more worried if your kid was listening to The Mentors or Skrewdriver or some flute metal band?featherboa wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 8:00 pm buckshotte roulette

As long as the kid hasn’t shown signs of depression or self injury I’d much rather them play something macabre instead of always being on Tik-Tok or porn sites. The graphics are that PS1 style all the millennials are crazy about, so it isn’t even realistic. If anything about this game in particular I’d red flag is the gambling aspect.cxwx wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:29 amWould you be more worried if your kid was listening to The Mentors or Skrewdriver or some flute metal band?featherboa wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 8:00 pm buckshotte roulette

A quickly and accidentally ducked my head into the world of Half-Life 1 fanboys and their lynch mob mentality when it comes to using the ‘HD Models’, playing in 4K, and texture filtering. Holy shit, I doubt they can even masturbate, there own small pricks are horrified by them. What the fuck.
And to spite all these types of people I’m switching from XIII Classic to the much hated remaster. Fuck you, Fortnite art style looks a hundred times better than PS2 era cell shading.

A literal suicide game sounds a bit fucked up to me, frankly, but at the end of the day, he's going to find a way to play the game one way or the other, so it's better if he does it at home and knows he can talk to his parents about it if he has questions. Also, I'm just always reminded that I and everyone else here should have turned out illiterate (comic books), drug-addicted, devil worshipping (Metal music) school shooters (videogames) according to the various moral panics we've lived through, and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm a high school English teacher now.
Just, you know, talk to your fucking kids.

I've banned sonic the hedgehog in my house, because I've seen what that does to permeable young minds.

Why? What could happen when someone has an ‘odd’ attachment to Sonic….

Never liked Sonic. Sure it’s fun zooming around a loop getting all those coins, but then BAM! There’s always a spike or enemy you can’t help but smack into. Outside of running around on loops I always thought it was a rather poor platformer.

I meant to try out that first person mod for Elden Ring, but never did. Do I enjoy pain?

I started like a year ago. People kept telling me it was OK to google shit about it because it's so arcane so I eventually did. I kind of wish I didn't. Or did less. I dunno. I'd probably still be trying to get out of the first room. Of course play however you want no judgment. Just saying there's lots of cool shit to stumble into.

I’ve had to google a couple of things when I was like “I’ve been everywhere WHAT the FUCK am i DOING”
No regrets except when the answer is so cunting obvious that I am hurled into a pit of shame, generations deep and decades wide
But then there’s other times where I’m like, “shit, yeah I never would have figured that out good thing I looked it up.”

Mostly it was the DOAD
Some of the stuff you would never find unless you like walked the whole map in a grid search. And it's non-trivial, advance-major-questlines type stuff. It rules.

i thought i was playing so slowly and exhaustively and i still missed a ton of shit
i broke the volcano manor and the questlines of a ton of adjacent quesltines of people hanging out there etc etc. its normal to not want to miss anything but the game is really meant to be replayed in different way imo

I sold the misericorde really early in the game. still mad about about it.
I'm not sure I'll replay it. I haven't even finished yet. Some hard boss blocked me and then I lost interest. I have the DLC too I don't think I even know how to get to it.

I accidentally ran afoul a ‘romance’ in the game via YouTube so I followed a guide to get me to that. But early on I was plenty confused and ended up grinding a lot in comfortable areas.
I, myself, accidentally posted a spoiler here a hundred years ago about Bioshock Infinite that pissed a few folks off and I think YouTube has been giving me karmic revenge since.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)
It would appear that Tomb Raider 2 is wrapping up. Much like the previous title, two’s final level is like this abstract and surreal landscape. I love stuff like this. But while watching this and the first game, it was all very familiar. I just realized now that this stuff is basically in American McGees Alice. That stupid game has lackluster combat and pretty blah platforming, but an art aesthetic and level design that always draws me back to it. Now I’m realizing they just ripped off the Tomb Raider games. Even the main character is a late 90s/early 2000 edgy British woman, even though Alice isn’t supposed to be from the 90s. It even has sections where we have to avoid boulders. Change the so-called Wonderland mental state and place it in mythical settings and Alice is just a damn tomb raider rip off. Damn you, American McGee. I hate it when my heroes end up being hacks.

Beat Tomb Raider 2. Some levels were way better than others, that’s for sure. I need a break. I can’t jump into 3, just yet. Might replay Alice Madness Returns, see if there’s plagiarism there (I actually like the game alot).
On the other end, I may replay Metal Gear Solid 2. HD Xbox 360 version via Xbox One X whatever. Only beat it once, before 2008 at the nearest year I can calculate.

I love! Love Metal Gear Solid 1, 3, and some of 5. What the fuck with 2. Is it Kojima being Japanese. It’s a fucking mess story wise. Raiden is worse than I remember. Fuck me, was this point in time when everyone wanted to introduce a Jar-Jar into everything.

I think I have 300+ hours into it. Its generational. I believe I 've done just about everything one can do in the base game and the DLC EXCEPT the final DLC boss. I had played so much I needed a massive breather. Haven't gone back since.
I will say the 1 hour + fights against Malenia and Messmer were
