Maybe I should be miffed about that, but by the time I bought my 970, I already had two versions of TW3 preordered.Rev. Christberg wrote:Oh, and in other news, NVidia 970/980s now come with copies of Witcher 3

Should be able to get Arkham Knight cheap on ebay then. I love it when Nvidia or AMD runs those deals because you can get a game on release for less than $30. But, I am still on the fence with Arkham Knight because after three meaty games do I really need more open world Batman? I'd get it day 1 if it was more focused like Arkham Asylum.

I started playing airmech arena on PS4 last night. It's a free to play RTS/MOBA type game somewhat similar to the game Herzog Zwei for Sega Genesis. It's really, really fun.
Ordered this week: Omega Quintet, Story of Seasons, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, Final Fantasy XX2 HD Remaster, Splatoon, Puzzle Dragons Z Puzzle Dragons Super Mario Bros Edition, The Witcher Wild Hunt, and Project Cars.
Splatoon looks like excellent fun for Nintento Wii U

I used the last of my Steam credit for the Early Access version of Black Mesa. What the hell, it's not like it was some dopey rain mod for Skyrim. This is over 10 years of work remastering one of my favorite games. Sure, they still haven't finished Xen, but Xen sucks, so I'll give them all the time the need to make it better.
I tried the free version they released a few years ago, um, a few years ago. My old PC nearly fucked itself in the ass running it. This version looks good, and runs good. They added some extra polish.
Painkiller Black and Pinnacle work nice together. The play style lends itself to not needing dead on accuracy, so no auto-aim features isn't a problem.
Getting distracted again. I need to get back to Blood 2.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)
In Blood 2, you spend the majority of the game's story in pursuit of Gideon. The head of the evil cult turned evil Cabal mega corporation and blah blah blah. Anyhow, he's this dude with long-ish white hair and a fancy robe. Now this is a game from '99, so the character models aren't exactly high definition. So, imagine my surprise when I invaded the Cabal Headquarters and saw a portrait of their beloved malign leader.
How do I remember generic looking warehouse levels, but not this bit of greatness? Alas, he turned himself into a giant spider and I killed him with a Howitzer. Tonight I finish the game.

Man, I was all giddy when I fired up Wolfenstein: Fear the Old Blood and heard Blaszkowicz snarling platitudes about the horrors of war, but then practically the first fucking thing the game makes you do is a stupid stealth sequence. Not to mention it gives you an awesome gun, only to find out that the enemies are indestructible. Bleh. You'd think the people who opened up the previous game with that awesome trench battle straight out of Killzone 2 would know better than that.

Whatever, man, I just don't want my shooter starting with a forced stealth section.

Frankly, I don't want stealth in anything because guessing and rote guard routine memorization is for chumps. At least in Batman they consistently give you an eagle eye view and xray vision so you can puzzle out how to best plough everybody's pootie tangs from the sky. INVERTED BAT ASSFUCK IS GO.

Oh, I love stealth games. Big fan of Splinter Cell and MGS. And the previous Wolfenstein game had stealth sections too. It's just not a very good one, and it's too early in the game.

Wasteland 2 is coming out for PS4 and Xbone. Kickstarter backers (maybe all PC users?) will get the free upgrade to the Enhanced / Ultimate edition. New voice acting, better graphics and textures, new gameplay systems.
Guess I should hold off on playing that even longer.

They better not be cunts and use the Gamebryo engine or at least spend some money on animations.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)
I certainly hope not. They've made a huge amount of money between the Fallout games and Skyrim so I hope they splurged on a new engine. What could be possibly worse than them using Gamebryo again is if FO4 will get a PS3/360 release. I'd be shocked if that is the case considering how awful Skyrim on PS3 was. Still, the reveal should be awesome because that Skryim reveal was .FVBTVS wrote:theres no way its gamebro, right?

so from what I gather, the engine they use is built from gamebryo but is so hacked together and modded that it's unrecognizable. i'm sorry to say that any wonkiness is probably bethesda's fault.
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Beat Blood 2 last night. That ending... wow. Old NES game endings with just a few lines of Engrish have more narrative.
Put on Clive Barker's Undying. GOG uses a 3DFX Glide wrapper to play the game. Interesting. I hear Glide actually did graphical things nVidia didn't do well, and still can't emulate on old games. I also dug into the nVidia profile manager and manually cranked Undying.exe's settings. It looks damn sharp and pristine now for an old ass Unreal engine game. So, now one of my favorite games of all time is now the best looking I've ever seen it. Thanks GOG and new PC
But it's Friday, and Franklyn needs to bang a stripper. And Micheal needs to murder a hooker. These are the days of our lives.

I built a new PC about a month ago. Ended up getting a second GTX 970 for sli a few days back. Its stupid being able to get 120ish fps in Far Cry 4 completely maxed out. Game looks insanely good.
Next will be one of those 2560x1440 gsync monitors. Can't wait for it.

Re: The Bill's Now Playing Video Game Thread (Now with Bames)
Got my 970 last night. Batman is like a totally different game running this fast. It's almost too responsive but it makes the game so much more enjoyable. Makes me curious if a solid 60 FPS would fix Shadow of Mordor or not.
