if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Sid Meier's Pirates. Sid Meier's Civilization. Sid Meier's Anal Bead Circus. I've been seeing the name of Sid Meier on games for years and I still have no idea who this dude is, or have played any of these games. Not out of conscious choice or anything, just one of those things.

I have a friend who would always tell me about one of those games. I always told him to nuke the other countries, so he did. Never played it myself. It seemed like a modern version of Nobunaga's Ambition, which was never my thing.

You're not alone, Bill. I think I may have watched a friend play Railroad Tycoon on the Amiga for about two minutes once. I never liked Sim City either.

Half-Life is some like Die Hard meets The Mist, and Half-Life 2 feels more like a sequel to They Live so I wouldn't say they fit the Apocalypse theme but you should play them.

I'd say the first two Silent Hill games are bleck as all hell, if you like that genre of games.

Nothing comes close to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Running through a rain storm while shooting the mutants chasing you and finally finding a safe haven with some fellow stalkers sitting fireside. One strums a guitar and sings a Russian folksong.

I need to finally play Call of Priypat but the next month or so is all Bloodborne.

That seems to be the consensus It's old enough now I could probably throw on some high res textures and mod the hell out of it.

pripyat came out when "emergent gameplay" was the buzzword but it did it in a more natural and interesting way than most other games did. the various factions, anomalies, creatures, hunger, radiation, sleep, weapon degradation, burden, and the random storms really kind of made some fascinating things happen.

a storm came up when i was too far from home base so i ran into a nearby abandoned factory, and as i was looking around, a whole pack of bandits also took shelter there. I tried to hide but ended up having to fight my way through them with a rusted up mp5 and a handful of bullets, and eventually found my way to a storm drain to hide in

another time i made it back in time before the storm, and looked out the window to see about 6 or 7 people trying to run indoors, but the storm killed them all a few hundred feet from the building. as soon as the storm let up, it was a race between me and a bunch of other survivors to see who could grab the most loot from the dead bodies. i was too outnumbered to fight the other scavengers, so it was a matter of just running.

That sounds great. Unfortunately, my current situation calls for using a controller, and based on my memory of the first STALKER game, I'd be fucked without the precise K/M aiming (as these games don't offer native controller support). Maybe one day when I get a new house and can have an office again, although my present Man Cave rules.

I've had a severe cold since early last week and I just don't have the energy to play this week. Once I'm better it's the final DLC and main mission for me in New Vegas. I've been pretty obsessed with this game, just as I was with Dark Souls last year at this time. I did the same thing with other games like Skyrim and FO3 years before around this time too. Seems to be a pattern.

I here the new Battlefield has an alright single player, that actually incorporates proper stealth game play

I should have specified Half Life 2.

I would have grabbed it yesterday, but I know I wouldn't get to it for a long time.

Just finished the final DLC, time to get this Hoover Dam thing started.

New Vegas done. Abrupt end and anticlimactic ending aside great stuff. Draining though, I feel like I was at it for a year. I want to redo Oblivion now, but I'm wondering if I didn't burn myself out some. I should finish NOLF first, regardless.
