Everytime I hear gurgle vocals I think of a bukkake video with a blonde trying to swallow a mouthload of cum. Not brutal.

The best new "old school" death metal release I've heard in a long time is the Vorum - Grim Death Awaits EP. Where most of these bands just try to copy the guitar sound and a few of the old Nihilist riffs this is the first band from that whole movement I've heard that actually writes catchy, interesting music. Excellent stuff, IMO.

They're on Woodcut Records so it's not too hard to find. It's also out there on the blogs so give it a listen.

I'm violating the topic of the thread and I apologise, simply didn't want to create a new thread about it: Are Fleshcrawl worth checking out?

Not exactly brand spanking new but new-er bands for sure.

I wasn't exactly digging the two newer songs on the Genocide page but "We Rape The Sky, We Rape The Hell" is an awesome album, as was the earlier "Blood Spilled"

I was going to mention that BONESAW band as well but I see someone was already pimping them.

FATRABBIT wrote:Bonesaw from Scotland. shivery Autopsy harmonies and ravenous vocals. they manage to edge out Abscess on the split, which is pretty impressive as it's some of Abscess' best. New full length soon.

their myspace doesn't have their best tracks (smack zombie and necrosexual) but you won't be worse for hearing it.

It should also be said that SMACK ZOMBIE is only about 3-4 bucks on distros and it rips ass. It's amazing how original they can sound doing a really simple style (or deceptively simple). That stonerish riff in "Threshold" kicks all kinds of ass.

yeah Anatomia kick arse - their stuff on the split with Grudge and Coffins is killer and easily beats the other 2 bands - didn't know they had a new demo but I just ordered it so thanks for the heads up
