Mike fucking Heller. Mike and Ronny. This is such a bonkers album.
I luckily got to do some vomits on Sequestrum's "Corpse Stain" - which is so nuts cuz their vocals are much more insane than mine. So honored.

I tried to check out some new metal in my area by following some facebook groups but so far its mostly pretty bad, it all sounds like they grew up on guitar hero and dragonforce and they are always "dropping new singles". I don't remember metal or grindcore being about singles.

I think this is a byproduct of younger people in general not sitting down to listen to full albums anymore. Not any particular genre of music. Although the idea of a 12 second long grindcore song being a single is amusing. ( I'm remember a Deche Charge tape being 4 seconds long )samiam wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 5:10 am I tried to check out some new metal in my area by following some facebook groups but so far its mostly pretty bad, it all sounds like they grew up on guitar hero and dragonforce and they are always "dropping new singles". Yeah none of what I've heard is grindcore I guess, just cheesy metal. But to be fair I haven't really been going out to shows, I hear there are some good Doom type bands in the Denver area. I was into Cephalic Carnage and Catheter back in the day, not sure of any bands like that in the Denver area anymore.

the industry has partially shifted towards making 'content' for social media. A lot of artists concentrate on a shorter video-oriented cycle to ride algos rather than taking 4 years to write an album. Not universal obviously but definitely a thing especially with younger people

For sure, maybe that's just the evolution, I dunno. Kinda funny to hear metal bands talk about dropping singles though. Also a lot of them don't seem influenced by grind or powerviolence, they seem to be influenced by pantera and shit. but that's just the shit I see on facebook metal groups, so I might just need to leave my house more, but I'm old.Eight Bit Alien wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 1:24 pm the industry has partially shifted towards making 'content' for social media. 90% of the zoomers I've tried to introduce to grind just couldn't seem to wrap their head around the concept, same with PxVxsamiam wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 1:37 pm For sure, maybe that's just the evolution, I dunno. I did notice that the couple of them who DID get it also collected records as opposed to just streamed.
