I'm going to derail this thread with the fact that I've been listening to the underrated "Outside" a hell of a lot lately.

I've read him say a bunch of crazy shit about that album over the years. Even if that were the secret meaningstory, there's no way you could extrapolate all that from the lyrics!

I've always been sort partial to the burgess/kubrickian distopian nightmare future, and ziggy to me is of that world.

confirmed. helped a friend of mine move and had Rise and Fall in the truck with me while we were going back and forth. She was into it the first couple songs, but started belting out the lyrics and air guitaring the second Moonage Daydream came on. She's a trained opera singer; shit was loud. i still get blue balls thinking about her.

I'd say more than "a few short years."

# Aladdin Sane (1973)
# Pin Ups (1973)
# Diamond Dogs (1974)
# Young Americans (1975)
# Station to Station (1976)
# Low (1977)
# "Heroes" (1977)
# Lodger (1979)
# Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) (1980)

except for "Pin Ups" and some of "Young Americans" that's a pretty solid streak of awesome, IMO.
