My bubala has been hiccuping the last couple of weeks. every once in a while i hear that cat wheeze-cough that implies a hairball, but she ne'er produces anything. she has a very long, thick coat, so i feel like she should wheeze something up.

Should i jame my fist down her throat and get the hair so she doesn't choke on it?!

Yup, the long-hair (who's coincidentally sleeping on my chest as I type this ) yaks, but doesn't produce anything from time to time. If it's sporadic, I don't think it's anything to worry about. If he actually hiccuped, I'd probably get all giddy and start giggling.

Maybe she has a kitty cold? Mine did once and she did that wheeze-sneeze thing for a while, then it cleared up. Maybe she has a bit of something or other stuck in her throat? My kitty likes to eat grass in the yard, and sometimes a bit of scratch-grass gets lodged down there, which leads to cough-gagging for a while. Maybe it's nothing, and she's just fucking with you? If she's otherwise healthy, don't worry about it. But if you're the worrying type, take her to the vet for a once-over a couple of times.
