best metal album ever, post-1980

Post by Chad »

Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
edges out
Dio - Holy Diver
Slayer - Reign in Blood

before you argue...listen to the GODDAMN UNSTOPPABLE RIFFS in beneath the remains. there is not a single PART ON THAT ALBUM WHERE YOU CAN GET BORED. THE SOLOS RULE, THE DRUMS are fucking amazing. the rest lose

Slayer Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood is like Hell Awaits with all the long interesting parts cut out, its like a dumbed down remake of a cool horror movie

Schizophrenia makes a weird sort of sense...but...Arise? what the fuck, man? are you just entranced by the reissue version of Orgasmatron? cause I can't really blame you for that

Show No Mercy is the best thing Slayer ever did. They should tour and play that in its entirety.

Why'd you have to go on and give us such a tiny timespan? Everyone knows the most brutal shit is all pre 1980.

pre 1980 is an entirely different beast, primarily focused on Sabbath...Vol. 4 is the album that got me born...

When I saw them in October they didn't play a single song from SNM. I would have whipped out my dick and jerked myself to death if they had played Chrionics.

Beneath the Remains is Sepultura's best and beats everything Slayer did after Hell Awaits. But the best album ever post-1980 has to be either Individual Thought Patterns or Symbolic. The riffs and solos... and Hoglan on drums. The Amott/Steer era of Carcass (Necroticism/Heartwork) comes close too.
