Resident reports $48,000 in losses in Black Rock burglary

A Black Rock resident told police early today that somebody broke a window to get inside his house and then stole five weapons, including an AK-47 and two shotguns, plus a safe containing $35,000 in cash.

Leather jackets, video games, a flat-screen television and about a dozen pair of boots were also stolen, pushing the loss to about $48,000, according to a police report.

The Hoffman Place resident told police somebody entered the house between 10 p.m. Saturday and 6:45 a.m. today.

NRA gun instructor shoots student by accident

A gun instructor accidently shot a student in the foot Saturday during an NRA class to receive certification to carry a concealed weapon, Orlando police said.

Robert Frauman Jr., 50, was taken to Florida Hospital after instructor Michael Phillips' firearm discharged about 11:45 a.m., police said.
