They sounded pretty great when I saw them open for Metallica earlier this month. Zakk still sounds like Zakk but I give Charlie credit for really changing up his whole style and kit setup to pay accurate tribute to Vinnie Paul.

I’ve checked a few videos out of morbid curiosity. Are they tuning a bit lower?

Yes they're doing the whole set in C# standard now. It definitely suits Phil's current range better.
