I'm thinking of a joke turning the song "Becoming" into "Blockchaining" but I'm too lazy to finish it.

i broke the Pantera parody lyric generator in my brain a few years back turning "I'm Broken" into a Carl's Jr. jingle.

I talked to Phil's ex wife on YouTube once. She had her own channel with pointless videos with lots of filters on them and rambling whispered voice overs. She was really nice, totally goofy in a "I've dropped acid for the last 20 years of my life." way.

Saw Pantera with Downset and The Almighty (!!!) back in 1994.
I still confuse The Almighty and The Wildhearts all the time.
Don't remember shit about Pantera other than I wanted to go see Mordred who were playing the day before but my friends could not be arsed to go to 2 shows in 2 days :(

I was in Seattle for a Seahawk game in 1992. My hotel was right across the street from the Paramount Theater and as we were leaving for the game I noticed that the marquee said Pantera and Trouble. I tried to talk my mom into figuring out how I could do both the game and the concert but it wasn’t possible. The next morning I was out walking around and saw that there was a tour bus still parked outside. As I was standing there on the sidewalk Vinnie comes off the bus and for some reason just started chatting with me. He asked if I was at the show the night before. I told him I couldn’t because I was at the football game but he thought that was cool and we ended up talking about football for a little bit. He signed something for me and when I asked if everybody else was on the bus he said yeah but they had a rough evening and they’re still sleeping. As I started walking back to the hotel I noticed that the marquee just said Panter and when I looked down the missing A was on the ground. I grabbed it and a flyer for the show off of a utility pole. 16 year old me thought it was a pretty ok experience for not actually getting to see the show.

My first time actually seeing them was 1994. Me and a group of friends drove to Seattle for their tour with Sepultura and Prong. Somehow all of our tickets were balcony except one that was floor. A few of us took turns throughout the show using the floor ticket stub to go down and get in the pit. We had so much fun that the next day we drove back to the hometown where the tour was heading next. We didn’t even stop at home or anything, just went straight to the show. In my truck I found a plain white t-shirt and a black marker. I wrote “I saw you last night” on the shirt and brought it in with me. I got right up front on the barricade during Sepultura and held up the shirt a couple times. Max saw it and gave me a thumbs up and an approving nod. Did the same during Pantera and Phil gave the same acknowledgment. At one point in between songs he said “where’s that guy who saw us last night?” before repeating some story he told the night before. They wrangled up a bunch of the local strippers who came out on stage in bikinis and tossed plastic keg cups of beer out in the crowd. I heard they got banned from playing that venue for doing that.

A few years later they came through with Clutch and Neurosis. By that point I had become all KVLT and total heavy music snob. Neurosis played the first 4 songs off TSIB for their set. I decided that was all I needed and left.

I think I saw them one other time in the late 90’s. Anthrax were opening which I thought was a travesty. I was up front for Anthrax but just kind of stood toward the back of the main crowd during Pantera. At one point Phil went on a little rant about people in the crowd not getting into it and wannabe tough guys who just stand there with their arms folded. I looked down and realized that was exactly what I was doing.

I saw them also with Anthrax and Corn Chamber opening for them. Frank Bello was getting super pissed that nobody seemed to care about Anthrax, he saw me singing along and then got really happy.

Know why nobody cares about Anthrax.....its because they have been playing the same fuckin set for 30 fuckin years.

PS saw Anthrax on that last Slayer tour and they fuckin ripped but goddamn guys. Play some tunes off of Fistfull of Metal for Pete's sake.

They were playing mostly songs from Sound Of White Noise at that particular time frame. Most of the crowd were high school kids into NIN and Anthrax was already "old guy music" at that point, I'm pretty sure nobody even knew who they were. I remember there was a group of kids up front literally just having a conversation while they we're playing and he screamed at them to wake the fuck up.

Phils closing words of wisdom for the night we're "eat pussy until your fucking tongue falls out!"

Phil's last words of the night when we saw them was "ooh baby baby it's a wild world." Mic smashed into the stage.

the bassist of Sugar Ray has a youtube channel where he goes over every song. It's kind of interesting until it gets to the pop era. I feel like he checked out once he got this track though. i haven't heard this song before his series and i'm pretty sure theres a blast beat in there.. which is hilarious.
