Rate the last series you watched.

I like Invincible, but the similarities to DC style annoy me. Last animated DC thing I was excited for was the Kamandi short; I apprecited the Jack Kirby look, but it was too corny to be enjoyable. With stuff like Spiderverse, Love Death and Robots, The Liberator and Scavengers Reign leading the way now, they just look old fashioned anymore. Definitely coasting too, they never explore past their flagship characters and it's so limiting.

As a middle aged man with children and a mortgage let me just say that the Batman ones have a way better hit to miss ratio than the others. The dark knight Returns one in particular was fucking great.

Scavenger Reign - Massive love/hate with this. Loved the main character, which is obviously the planet itself. And it's driving me nuts because I'm positive I read a comic book series* (Image Comics?) that had a similar art and feel, but can't remember it. Hated that it had to do the whole 'womens be the best, mens be inferior' bullshit that has made most modern sci-fi rancid the last few years.


* I think I'm thinking of the Prophet series from 2012

Saga? If you're thinking of an Image series. Been wondering why that hasn't been made into a TV show yet actually. To me the scavengers animation looks like a straight 50/50 blend of Moebius and Studio Ghibli, with maybe some AI designs derived from both. I enjoyed the dikey badasses and have never minded female fronted fantasy...Blue Eye Samurai (7.5/10) is also very fem-focused and in the same camp, also pretty good quality show overall.

Totally agree, I love Cold War stuff but this shit the bed at the end of the last episode - especially dean winters character was awful.
