while that obviously does appear horrible to keep them working through the hurricane, my mom lives down on the other coast and personally prefers going to/staying at work through a hurricane. They don't actually work, and the place has a generator and such so while she would lose power at home and be alone at work (she works at a nursing home) there's power/internet/hot showers/ways to cook food/beds, and other people to hang out with and they say it's essentially like a party. But I definitely understand it not sounding like that and the reality would not be the same for everyone there. My aunt and uncles live in Cape Coral and Fort Meyers and had to get the fuck out of there (my Cape Coral relatives just announced they got their power and internet back just a few hours ago, whereas the Fort Meyers relatives went to stay with my cousin in Miami and i don't believe are back in Fort Meyers yet but I know they had left for it).
