I always assumed it either meant Rick Rozz was a permavirgin or someone in Cynic was gay and in the closet.

You know, I had always assumed it was an imaginary person...? Like 'fuck you, This Type Of Person', not really a specific dude.

Back when the album came out there were people saying that it was about a specific person, and that it was pretty obvious (and extremely insulting, hence why I think the "you don't know your own sexuality" line is what this is really about) who he was talking about if you were in the know. If anything I'm a bit surprised that it's not common knowledge who it was by now.

I'm a baby

honestly I probably would have no idea who the person was, were they named specifically in the song

That's what Metal Archives is for. I was 16 when Individual Thought Patterns came out, and it was pre-internet for me, so all I got was a few people making vague allusions in magazine interviews that they knew who Chuck was talking about and that they really didn't think it was right to put it in a song lyric. So I'm assuming it was someone who was in the band at some point, and I'd think a number of these guys you'd have heard of too.

It's kind of funny now that I think about it, everyone talks about Chuck like he was a saint now, but back in the early 90s, his reputation was basically that he was a whiny bitch and impossible to work with. I guess he just mellowed out a lot later.

Were Beavis & Butthead only into cool metal (e.g. whiny Chuck) or just dumb kids liking dumb metal?

They did not like the philosopher...
Because Mike Judge knew Chuck was a whiny bitch?
Or because he wrote them to be dumb kids liking dumb stuff?

Just wondering how he chose what music they liked, and which ones they didn't like.

Haven't former members of Death explicitly stated it was infact about Paul from Cynic?

Masvidal left before the album was recorded, so it fits.

From my time studying the subject, I've concluded that Beavis and Butthead usually dislike things that "suck", while conversely approving of things that "rule", "kick ass" or are "cool".
