Yes, thank you for posting the classic picture of your vegan straightedge hairy krishna bro-crush where you can see his abz. I'm sure he's a 131lb ball of karmic vegan posi-power that no one can stop. By the way if he's actually on roids like the dingleberry above me says he needs to get his money back or start eating meat like everyone else.Fighting Uruk-Hai wrote:The Torsion wrote: Youth Crew guys were wearing varsity jackets, Nike dunks and mesh shorts to shows in the mid-80s. Re: Harely Flanagan shivs the New-Mags;
As a subscriber of his insane rants about the cro mags, nyhc, and martial arts on Facebook, I saw something awesome about to happen. Things I know about Harley from the Internet:
- was awarded a black belt in jui jitsu a week ago
- discovered his wife was cheating on him about six weeks ago
- is a stay at home dad
- is disgusted by what NYC has become, as a lifelong resident
- really hates John Joseph but still wants to be asked to do a reunion tour
- his kids are more hardcore than ANY of us poseurs
He's a really amazing Facebook poster, though not as awesome as Mick Harris. Then again, Danny Herrera hasn't been stabbed yet. But I've also had a few one on one conversations with Harley, and in real life, he was a really cool guy. Lots of stories about music I like, and he's a good storyteller. I like the cro mags, and in spite of all this reunion shit, I think the cro mags always were Harley's band. He was the decision-maker/tyrant. Pre-reunion, there never was a cro mags without him. Harley's War, backed by merauder's then lineup was pretty sweet too.
Anyway, if some dudes joined my band, quit my band, and then played my songs using my band's name to make money after I packed it in, I'd be pretty fucking bitter. And when you do it to someone who is already known as a psychopath, you get fucking cut.

This shit made my facebook explode.
I 100% associate this style with the 90s, but I guess that's only because that's when I went to hardcore shows? I suppose I was thinking like a little kid, that if they close their eyes what they were looking at doesn't exist anymore. I feel amazed every time I see Clint's Fun Home updates. People are still straight edge? People still dress like that? People still care about this stuff?spacehamster wrote:some guy in a basketball shirt and a bandana

To be fair, it's hardly the only subculture that's been stuck in a permanent self-cannibalization loop for the last 20 years.EEEOOOEEEOOOEEEOOO wrote: I 100% associate this style with the 90s, but I guess that's only because that's when I went to hardcore shows? I met Springa at a Nashville Pussy show ca. 1998. I was wearing a homemade SS Decontrol wife beater. He introduced himself. This was before the wheelchair times.

Maybe he's a big Queensryche fan and hearing about Geoff Tate really connected with him?

From what i read on another board, Harley went back stage and asked JJ if he could play bass on a couple tracks. JJ said no and Harley grabbed a knife that Jimmy Gestapo (Murphy's Law) stashed backstage before hand (egging him on the night before to go stab-happy on the band), and taking a swipe at the former bass player. The Gook guy got in the way and got stuck. Bouncers demolished Harley and the cops came and strapped him to a wheelchair.

Hell, i believe it. I think if JJ would have said yes to Harley playing bass, he just would have started sticking everyone within arms reach just the same.

I'm having an extremely tough time believing Jimmy G had a hand in something this malicious. MAYBE joking about it, but not stashing the fucking weapon.

The singer of Blood for Blood tried to force himself on a friend's 13 year old daughter while her sister screamed at him to stop. Juggalos with guitars.

You know when you read some Scandinavian or East European black metal band's biography or lyrics or album title and there are all these hilarious grammatical errors but you cut the guys some slack because their first language isn't even English?

Hardcore is like the musical equivalent of finding that eroded but still fappable nudie mag in the woods when you're 10 years old. At that point in time, it seems like the greatest thing in the world. Then you get older and discover streaming HD porn and the idea of jerking off to some found, used up magazine seems totally ridiculous. Why would you go back? This shit is just embarrassing. Then again, when you see how dumb these guys are I guess it totally makes sense.

Re: Harely Flanagan shivs the New-Mags;
I'll admit that I still love a few of these bands, but it never ceases to amaze me how these guys think hardcore is some sort of high stakes game or something. Like they think this sub-genre is still some really important life and death shit. I don't buy the self-serving "we come fwom da stweets" bullshit line, either. Too many guys had it way harder and managed to grow out of that kind of childish insular mindset.

Re: Harely Flanagan shivs the New-Mags;
I remember a few years back, talking with a buddy of mine about the band Redline. They were a NJHC band from Westwood, NJ. Anyways, we were both saying how we were into them but my buddy kept retorting to "Yeah, I love those guys but they're from the burbs man. They don't know nothing bout no hardcore, they're all white picket fences and shit. But yeah, I still love em though." haha. Dudes need to work on keepin' it real.
