What adblocker do you use? Youtube did some kind of upgrade about a week or two ago and now Adblock doesn't work properly anymore.

no adblocker at all: I’m paying for it - and the price is ludicrous. i feel immense shame and consternation about this, but in practical terms it has been completely worth it. as soon as it kicked in, it was like a huge weight had been lifted. truly liberating. i spend a huge amount of time listening to youtube playlists while i work and there isn’t really another option that can compete. (fuck spotify!)

the tipping point was that 20 minute blood incantation video (a trippy sci fi epic) being RIDDLED with ads. it was hell.

i gave up on the whole adblocker thing years ago. it was a neverending arms race and i recall constantly having to deal with broken websites caused by the adblocker. maybe things are different now, but i presume nothing will give me the freedom i now have to download youtube content to my phone and to listen to the audio while the screen is locked. in other words, youtube premium is giving me effective adblocking on both my PC laptops and my iphone… something i’d go nuts trying to implement for free

they shut them when there’s no space for another roll bag, and they’ll scold me for opening ‘em up to find space for my backpack

recently one pulled out my backpack and yelled “WHOSE IS THIS? backpacks go under the seat in front of you!” and i had to explain that my little computer bag was in that space, and that i was a true hero for not bringing a roll bag at all…

that same woman had been repeatedly singing a “fun” song over the PA in the boarding area, all about how backpacks go under seats… so she was really on a warpath

Adblock worked fine until about a week or two ago, at least on Chrome, and I never got the impression that it prevented much from working - that's NoScript, which I have on Firefox, and it's basically this great security tool that you have to turn off on every website because nothing works when it's enabled.

Anyway, I don't know about the US, but Youtube premium is like 20$ here in Switzerland, and there's no way I'm paying that. I'm just going to have to hope Adblock catches up with whatever Google's doing.

Oh, the Lacey Chabert channel. When we visit my mother she either has that or golf on, So, Hallmark wins in that regard. But I’ll be doing something, walk into the living room and three different movies could have played and it might as well be one very long movie, with Lacey always showing up.

These apps are a nightmare. I am seeing someone very regularly but we still see others at times and she already had a few FWBs she had before she met me, but I'm trying to find some other new friends and the way the apps filter what I'm looking for almost never works.

it's incredible how rare this is lately (assuming you're not 30k feet from the planet)

1. i don't even recall noticing the transition from "wifi barely good enough anywhere" to "it's normal that wifi is essentially unlimited everywhere" - probably when I moved from OH to CA

2. i remember all these doomsday articles about how people couldn't possibly switch to streaming stuff nationwide, since it would outpace the total capacity of whatever internet wires we rely on. seems like that was completely overblown, since people are streaming stuff in HD basically non-stop. i'm still sort of curious if there was a real problem/threat that actually got solved. i'm presuming it's just good compression?

just got super angry about how when people (naysayers, whistleblowers, etc.) are vindicated in the fullness of time... there's never any official fucking ceremony or anything like that to acknowledge their righteousness. i've been seeing countless people be idiotically dead wrong about things more and more and more and there's just no recourse. ever. angry.
