First time I went to Florida, I was a skinny 16 year old. It was the beginning of February so the humidity probably wasn’t that bad. I have probably told the story a few times on the board, but I actually took LSD on the plane from Washington state down that way. We did all the Disney bullshit but then we stayed a few days in Clearwater because my dad had a business conference he was going to. During the day while he was doing that, my parents would give me a couple $20 bills for food and whatever. One of the days we were there, I woke up early and hiked my ass across the bridge over to Tampa. I had somehow heard a rumor that the Tardy brothers from Obituary had a record store and I wanted to find it. I only ended up finding a music store at some mall, but still spent most of my food money on death metal CDs that I never thought I’d be able to find in my shithole town.

I went again 12 years ago. It was in March, so once again humidity wasn’t horrible. Disney bullshit again but my girlfriend at the time had a family vacation home on Coco Beach and I really liked it there.

I really don’t think I could handle summer or hurricane season there but maybe I’ll try someday if I have enough expendable money and courage.

The worst humidity that I think I’ve encountered was the 3 Julys in a row that I went to Minneapolis for Melvins adventures 2015-2017. The whole cliche take a shower in the morning and then walk out the door an hour later and end up dripping with sweat in less than 2 minutes. First year I went, I got to see the craziest lightning storm I’ve ever experienced, right after getting nice and stoned with Dave Unsane . I’m sure I was still spoiled compared to other parts of the world….

There were definitely a few years at MDF that included some very annoying humidity.

Those things suck!! Its a beautiful idea and i was excited at the opportunity to try sodas I'll never find retail. But i dunno if the syrup runs out or what, never had a positive experience with one. Usually around here they give out some kinda sweet tea which is a good default.

tangential but I've always wanted a cherry rum & coke... but I can't drink caffeine at night so that has to be a lunch cocktail, which... c'mon.

i went on the most hellish search for caffeine-free cherry cola - shit barely exists! it was rough. I ultimately found some boutique stuff that I got shipped - the only option was a dozen 24 oz cans so now I have an obnoxious amount of cherry cola... and it's not even that good. and I end up wasting most of each can.

my wife recently gifted me this cherry syrup that comes in a capri sun type pouch and that stuff absolutely rules. it was a month or two before it clicked that I can now buy tiny cans of caffeine-free coke and just spike it with the cherry syrup. haven't done it yet, but I'm pretty sure this will crush.

got so so so many cocktail mixers during the pandemic and now I have stuff on hand to make all sorts of nice mocktails. seltzer & lime juice & ginger syrup... you get the picture

Two weeks in a row someone putting their own shit in my recycling bin. And it was the two same exact cardboard boxes both times.
