Yeah, while I can take a few songs from their first two albums, I don't think it was all that glorious at all. Just looked at the booklet from their second album (Purple?) and his photo where he's smoking a cigarette, he already looks burnt out, pale and like a skinny junkie. I'm not sure he was really living the life or bathing in college pussy or whatever, maybe his bandmates were, while he was busy scoring heroin or crack, only living for the next fix. Pretty sure he was trapped in a pretty dark place full of heroin and addiction.

I saw STP twice, once in 2008 at Mansfield and once in 2009 at Mohegan Sun. The 2009 show was before they recorded their mediocre self-titled album, so it was all hits and deep cuts. They opened with "Silvergun Superman" and it was fucking great. There are some videos from that show on youtube still. Weiland was clearly sober and sounded much better than he did the previous summer when he was fucked up and forgetting words left and right.

They even played "Sin" which is my favorite STP song. There are a lot of great videos from this show on youtube still.
