co-worker admitted to having a great dislike/donotwant of current "trend" of furry culture. says they're not serious and in it only because it's becoming popular. says she knows some antifeminist/patriarchal bronies, and somewhat blames them for rise in furry popularity somehow? detected strong wafts of oppressed overtones during conversation.

also discovered that there's specific furry porn actors. i was already mentally drained and didn't bother to ask for much clarification, but i think it was implied that there are porn actors that are furries, but not necessarily do furry sex type shit. supposedly that's rare, though many do enjoy furry cartoon porn. i guess those suits are very expensive and no one wants to muss them with body fluids.

It's kind of amazing how quickly this personality type emerged and proliferated. Maybe I'm just behind the times (I'm chronically hot now on a lot of internet stuff) but even a year ago the idea of a legion of fedora-sporting, militant atheist brony nice guys would've seemed pretty foreign to me.

That said, I'm fortunate enough to have never encountered such a being in real life...yet...

Well, it's easier to be this abrasive when you're not the only one doing it. I'm guessing it's part people who want to feel they belong to something and part something closer to the teen-ager/early 20-somethings who read Atlas Shrugged and decide they're really intelligent for finally seeing through all the bullshit and adopting it as a life style. Add to that the on-going backlash against PC and the frustration some of them feel over feeling both powerless but hearing so much about white male privlege (and missing the point), and I think dudes of a certain age and disposition fit right into this.

As for the brony shit, I guess I don't get it, but it's not like everyone who rocked a mohawk neccessarily thought it was awesome-- some just didn't want to tell anyone they thought it looked dumb

It does kind of make sense. I guess the he-man woman-hating men's rights stuff and MLP are kind of two sides of the same coin. It's like a fight/flight response to facing a shitty future (financial shenanigans, global warming, sistas doin' it for themselves, etc.) One option is to rave about how all women are worthless cunts trying to murder your sons and end thy noble bloodline, while the other is to retreat into a candy-colored fantasyland where everything is safe and non-threatening. I think a lot of these dudes just oscillate between the two depending on their emotional state.

The atheism stuff though...atheism deserves better.

This whole Friend Zone/Nice Guy thing has gotten way out of hand. While I agree with most of it in premise-- that there are a seemingly growing number of dudes who expect sex for being nice and that's a problem-- reading some comments on that article and other articles like it make me feel like some people are attempting to say that simply wanting to date a girl who enjoy hanging out is inherently terrible and duplicitous. Some also seem to be suggesting that wanting someone as your girlfriend means only that you want to fuck them-- that there is nothing more to it than simply wanna stick dinky in.
