Mine isn't telling jokes yet although the concept of funny has definitely emerged. Lately he's been hitting me with odd little poems and I'll occasionally witness him inventing a song. Just over 2 years old, for context.
Sprung this on me today sitting in his high chair, and i almost texted my wife to make sure she hadn't gotten into a car accident.

I still feel like i need to burn some sageMama can't come home.
Half of the moon is outside,
and half a leaf.
Half of plane is outside.
Half of mama is coming home.
Half of tomorrow is coming outside.

What was his lesson on ‘half’ that burned it into his brain so well? Apparently at that age, I used a lot of words, some half way complex, that there’s no way I totally knew what they meant, but I somehow used them in a semi-logical way

He's interested in the half and crescent moon phases, and has half of a pinecone in his toybox. Honestly beyond that there's no way to explain any of it, they record everything and how the data gets processed is a mystery.
Laying in his crib one morning he started singing this song. I transcribed it as best I could, I'd say this is about 80% accurate:

This is structurally based on a single-paragraph poem in one of his books, but that one is only about crows and all the rest of the stuff above are his own topics of interest. I couldn't explain the mechanics of it if I tried.Truck big black truck

Fact #7
From an empirical viewpoint, the problem with Free Will (and causality) is reconciling determinism and freedom to make sense of morality.

Anyone here meditate? I have the Balance app and I like it a lot, but I have only used it sparingly. I was feeling kind of irritable today and did a session on my lunch break at work and it really helped calm me down and let go of some tension.

Re: the NOT WORTH ITS OWN THREAD thread could be revived
I don't drink anymore!
I was going through it yesterday, as they say. I realized later in the day it was because I'd barely eaten anything and I drank a shitload of coffee so my anxiety and negative thoughts were kind of spiraling. Meditating calmed me down but then I felt all jittery after until I made myself a fucking sandwich. The older I get the more I realize how what I put into my body really fucks with my mental state. It sucks!

Imagine being dead and the only photo they can find to memorialize you is one of you drinking and giving the camera the middle finger

Re: the NOT WORTH ITS OWN THREAD thread could be revived
When the grizzled old bartender at my main neighborhood dive in Portland died years ago, I found a picture I had taken of him sitting at the bar, beer in front of him, cigarette in one hand and flipping me off with the other hand with a big smile on his face. I printed it out 8x10, framed it and took it to the bar for his memorial gathering of the juggalos. It hung on the wall for years until they did some renovations and his wife took it home. Pretty sure that’s how he would’ve wanted to be remembered.postaddiction wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 10:34 am Imagine being dead and the only photo they can find to memorialize you is one of you drinking and giving the camera the middle finger
