While I understand their appeal and aren’t exactly nails on a chalkboard Television has always bored me to tears. Part of their annoyance is slightly irrational as I’ve always found both them and Talking Heads as bands most responsible for defanging punk rock, thus pleasing the critics and ultimately influencing the shit show that was new wave.

What bands are included in the new wave shit show? Are we talking Devo, The Cars, The B-52s or are you thinking Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc? I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from here.

I came around pretty late on Television, but I listened to a lot of punk and Talking Heads as a kid. New Wave was like a catch all term that included Punk, Art Rock, 2nd wave ska, etc. It changed over the years, so just wondering how you define new wave.

If you still look back and in earnest were exited about the mtv version of this exciting period, I’m not going to shit in your cereal

Punk rock needed to be de-fanged. It had turned into a cartoon thanks to idiots like Sid Vicious.

I wish it had been Johnny Rotten that had died instead.

  • Someone has been updating the Discogs page about me (like wikipedia for vinyl, with a marketplace) - now they even put an actual picture of me in scrubs up on my profile! They are like an obsessed mass-editor of things, so it's not just me. Not super happy about it.
  • I made a post about it on Facebook. Someone made a joke about TCME, and I made an anti-doctor joke back, forgetting that I am friends with the head of internal medicine at my hospital. He has never interacted with me on there, but liked that post:

Zebra flaggots made the conclusion of an otherwise entertaining superbowl into an absolute bore, oh boy, victory formation and a chip shot field goal, what a thrill to the nine people that live in kansas city
