What bands are included in the new wave shit show? Are we talking Devo, The Cars, The B-52s or are you thinking Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc? I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from here.

I came around pretty late on Television, but I listened to a lot of punk and Talking Heads as a kid. New Wave was like a catch all term that included Punk, Art Rock, 2nd wave ska, etc. It changed over the years, so just wondering how you define new wave.

Punk rock needed to be de-fanged. It had turned into a cartoon thanks to idiots like Sid Vicious.
