I'm actually pretty surprised that you didn't include Thurston Moore's The Perfect Day.

Re: 2014 Albums Thread
to be honest I only listened to it once when it came out. Nothing really caught my attention and I also think I was still really pissed off about apparently no more chelsea light moving or twilight. I'll listen to it again today.Idget Child wrote:I'm actually pretty surprised that you didn't include Thurston Moore's The Perfect Day.

Yeah, that OMG is better than I though it would be. I guess Turner has another heavy band ready to put something out next year.
This Budos Band record is all kinds of great. Definitely one of my favorites from this year.

Re: 2014 Albums Thread
I think I settled on these as my favorite records this year:
Artificial Brain - Labyrinth Constellations
Atriarch - An Unending Pathway
Baby Ghosts - Maybe Ghosts
D'Angelo & The Vanguard - Black Messiah
Dead Congregation - Promulgation of the Fall
Gazelle Twin - Unflesh
Gowl - Blurr EP
Hurula - Vi är människorna våra föräldrar varnade oss för
Internal Rot - Mental Hygiene
Life - Proof of Survival EP
Panopticon - Roads to the North
Pantalones Abajo Marinero - Heridas por Armas Blancas (personal favorite release this year!)
There were definitely a bunch of other records from this year I liked across genres, but these are definitely "must own" records in my mind, even though I still need to track down half of them.
I need to hear the whole thing, but the Misþyrming record is pretty fantastic, too. I just don't know whether or not that's a release for this year or next.

Re: 2014 Albums Thread
that is surprisingly decent
if there's anybody in the world who'd be fucking unobservant enough to actually damage themselves with trap-soap I guess it'd be the guy with dialup in 2007

Re: 2014 Albums Thread
Thanks for that. This has some potential, although I'm not too sold on the overly busy drumming.

Surprisingly, no! Im seeing this on a ton of lists and I consider it a tell tale sign that the person's taste is of ill and deplorable repute.canon.docre wrote:Only person on earthHotchka! wrote: 2. Mayhem - Esoteric Warfare

I don't think it's absolutely terrible. some of the vocals are good, and there's a decent song or two...it's just fucking boring.
