It's double hilarious/frustrating in Trump's case, though - it's one thing that we've bought into this unbelievably retarded neoliberal idea that being a "successful businessman" makes one uniquely qualified to be a politician as if it was just common sense somehow, but Trump isn't even a successful businessman, he played one on TV. i don’t expect any of you to watch a 2 hour anything just because I posted it, but this video has a pretty satisfying run-through of how trump was directly and indirectly adopted as a villain in tons of 80s & early 90s media - massively supporting what you’re talking about.

you can start at around 30 min mark, and there’s a solid 20 min stretch of relevant stuff. I’m pretty sure Gremlins 2 gets a nod somewhere in the vid, but i couldn’t find that quickly…
