I had an interaction with someone recently where they shared some information from a disreputable source, I reached out (in what I felt was a non-judgmental way) to alert them that the source has been repeatedly peddled lies in the past. The response? They laughed at me and implied that some sort of team or tribal mentality was perhaps getting in the way of me seeing past the bias in the reporting.

I felt like it was just any other day getting trolled on the internet, but it did stick out a little bit because someone was manipulated by a manipulator - and then turned that around to suggest that I was the one being manipulated. 100% a reminder of encroaching dystopia.

Hey TF, I know you don't work in say, a field where there are a lot of recruiters trying to poach people - I mean, who does? Anyway I know you and I both do, and the recruiters are usually contractors not actual employees who get paid to forward on people for interviews and I think get paid based on if that person gets hired.

EDIT: The last hospital system I worked at did have dedicated recruiters for nursing who were employed by the hospital and did actually know things about how the hospital ran so they could answer questions from potential hires - so its not like I am trying to say that all recruiters are contractors.
