I'm just not sure that's the worst thing about a Dick Spencer interview video, but I guess the heart wants what the heart wants.

Am I the only one who’s run into the phenomenon of knowing lots of boomer age people who are rabidly homo/transphobic but their favorite movie is The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Re: THREAD TO TALK ABOUT CULTURE WAR BULLSHIT
People were totally comfortable with gender stuff as camp and counterculture. I've thought about that a lot. Even when trans stuff was shown as a spectacle in the 90s, from Ed Wood to Jerry Springer, I don't think i knew anyone who didn't accept the idea of "being born in the wrong body". Never heard an objection to the idea.
It wasn't until it was coupled with the concept of redefining gender as a whole for everyone that stuff got weird; those ideas are generally accepted for others, but people don't like it being projected onto themselves or their children. My generation was also particularly vulnerable to revolutionary rhetoric and language, and did a terrible job explaining themselves and these new ideas. Media obviously did more harm than good as always.
