Katie Update

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself.

I am the boyfriend, of a poster on here that went by Katie al Maktoum.

I have been her boyfriend since 2009. I was writing to let you guys know that she is close to passing away from cancer.

Some here might be on the up, I came on here to inform because I know how much she loved this place and her friends on here when
we met.

Shes currently at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

If you want to send wishes, they will be greatly appreciated.

I am saddened beyonfd belief, and dont know how I will get past this loss.

Katie was always fun to talk to. I bought a Celtic Frost shirt from her once way back when we were all young and poor. Pretty sure I mailed cash (no checking account, PayPal, etc) and I know I threw in an extra $5 or so because I was always playfully saying I owed different people on the board a drink. Very sorry to hear. Hopefully she’s in as little pain as possible and you’re able to find solace in the good memories you have.

I never really interacted with her but that’s truly sad to hear someone suffering at such a relatively young age from cancer.

I'm shocked to read this, and I'm very sorry for what you (and the involved families) must be going through. I can't believe it's been that long since Katie posted with us. Back then, she was a very funny and interesting presence here. I remember thinking that she seemed like a unique, sensitive and very decent person. If there's anything any of us can do, please ask.

I’m pretty sure I met her at least once or twice at MDF but that was almost two decades and many beers ago. I remember her bringing more to the board than many when she was on here, and that’s saying a lot.

I am very sorry to hear this. I went through all my PMs to find Katie's and almost didn't find them because she deleted her account and they show now as "Anonymous". I am happy she found you and she is not alone in these hard days. I wish I could do more and I hate when this happens to nice people. You will be remembered Katie. Katie's posts were always quality and her absence here was felt. I wish her well.

Very sad to hear, and very sorry. When Katie posted here, she was consistently one of the funniest, smartest, sharpest people. I’ve thought of her often since she left and how funny she was, and how she improved the interactions she was involved in. I remember we had a thread about a sitcom starring Jofa and Mari, and she came in with like, ten brilliant ideas, and her worst contribution in the thread was at least 100x better than anyone else’s best contribution. She seemed to have a real grasp on her personal moral compass as well, which I always admired.

All the best to you both; until her last breath I’ll hope she has a recovery, but ic not, I hope her afterlife is exactly what she secretly dreamed.
