The idea of massive amounts of the landmass current inhabited just disappearing in floods seems far more plausible when you realize that Doggerland only sunk 10,000 years ago, which is a blink of an eye geologically speaking. And that was long before humans were dumping billions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere

So with the rise of electric vehicles being ostensibly environment friendly apparently a certain rock that is mined from the ocean due to the minerals it contains needed in the production of batteries is causing the oceans to lose their ability to absorb carbon.
