Re: Do you "get" this comic? [Perry Bible Fellowship]
the comic artist drew god-dog's robes to make it super clear that that's the creator on the right
if you asked me where god was in the real painting I'd think it's on the left (but I'm a lousy art appreciator)
also I realize that you always knew this now that I look carefully at your earlier post
basically it's god making up for his "mistake"

I thought god was on the left, and that man got replaced by dog
my confirmation bias made me only semi-read your post

Am I crazy or has Perry Bible Fellowship kinda turned to shit? I think it's one of the best comic strips of all time, like top 5 material, and reading the 10 most recent... they just seem kinda lazy and weird.

Ideally, society should be organized via a warrior-priest aristocracy.
I can trace my ancestry all the way back to historic germanic tribal chieftains in fact.

Re: Do you "get" this comic? [Perry Bible Fellowship]
yes james the comic is relatively fucking terrible lately
I thought we had collectively come to terms with this!
half my posts in here come with a groan or apology and then we do our best to have a good time in puzzling out whether out the panels take place at the same local or not

Coffee gives Jon the energy he needs for coitus.
She prefers it doggy style, and presents; making "puppies".
Garfield, being a cat, prefers kittens to puppies.

Re: Do you "get" this comic? [Perry Bible Fellowship]
I do not get this
doctors tell patients that googling stuff doesn't make the patient a doctor
what is the programmer dynamic? are they the doctor or the patient? both?
I have figured out that the "joke" is that programmers are constantly cribbing from the web... but that's fine; they're not trying to out-expert anyone; there's no reason they shouldn't act like a webmd-informed patient. they don't even get access to a "doctor", right?
I hate this

The first line ("Doctors: ...") is just supposed to anchor the joke in everyday experience.

Re: Do you "get" this comic? [Perry Bible Fellowship]
The joke is in contrast. You cannot be a self-taught doctor, but plenty of programmers are self-taught, and begin as hobbyists researching things online.
It's sorta following the same format as these memes:
Nobody:
Joe Rogan: Chimpanzees should do DMT
Meaning that "nobody" is the first speaker, addressing the world in general. It's not invoking a particular programmer/doctor relationship.
