Thanks dudes. I know it's not metal, I don't think we have enough talent to play that.

Hahaha, I think most of us are wise enough to realize that a music with absolutely no dynamics, bathed in distortion and screaming is not actually the toughest genre to perform. This Means War wrote:I know it's not metal, I don't think we have enough talent to play that.

Yes, but generic punk is much easier. Zero talent.Necrometer wrote:Hahaha, I think most of us are wise enough to realize that a music with absolutely no dynamics, bathed in distortion and screaming is not actually the toughest genre to perform. This Means War wrote:I know it's not metal, I don't think we have enough talent to play that.

Re: My band recorded finally. (500 post rule?)
When This Means War speaks of metal, I assume he's referring to genres of metal which typically place emphasis on technical ability, such as Power Metal, Technical Death Metal and Progressive Metal. If not then I agree with Necrometer, because most metal is sloppy as hell to my ears.
My ex-roommate only ever listened to Metal, but he refused to listen to bands that didn't "shred". He only liked Trivium, Children of Bodom, Decapitated and a bunch of guitar noodling nonsense like Paul Gilbert. While I do think he had bad taste, you can't say those bands aren't made up of some stellar musicians.

Re: My band recorded finally. (500 post rule?)
There are definitely world-class musicians who play metal, but talent is not a requirement to enter the genre. I guess I just feel all enlightened compared to my high-school impression that since Slayer's tempo was faster, they were more talented than Led Zeppelin or whomever.

Korea would love you. This kind of stuff is exactly what all the punks in this country play/listen to.

Stellar instrumentalists, yes. Now if only they could write music to save their lives.Morpheus wrote:My ex-roommate only ever listened to Metal, but he refused to listen to bands that didn't "shred". someone like paul gilbert couldn't write a catchy song to save his life but if he did you can bet your ass he would turn it into a huge wank fest.
