Why?Chad wrote:I'm a Christian.
There are plenty of reasons to hate jews without having to resort to deicide.

Are all the videos criticisms of certain sects or whole religions for doing bad things?

I guess I can understand that. I avoid talking about my lack of faith with loved ones. I'm not sure how much of it is out of fear that they will ratchet up the religious nonsense to try and save me, however..Chad wrote:I reject it in action, day to day one might not say I am a Christian. but I do behave that way around my parents, I pretend that it all means something to me when in fact it was shattered long ago...if they read this, it would hurt themdeath by snoo snoo wrote:So........you just think it is a net positive as a social institution?

So much thoughtfulness on display!Chad wrote:of all those who believed and disbelieved, which I have known, those who believed were the most decent, caring, who troubled themselves for the wellbeing of others, who cared beyond the moment
those who disbelieved were the wretched, hateful, who cared for nothing but the next moment, and disregarded human life to the point of mocking pain mercilessly

chad have you read any of zizeks writing on christianity? the fragile absolute maybe? his talks 'why only an atheist can believe'? his stuff on chesterton, the crucifixion, or the book of job. any of that...Chad wrote:for you guys, and you guys only, I will submit that I have intellectually rejected the idea of the supernatural. it simply does not exist to my mind, and is as much fantasy as any fairytale you like. that said...I think there is a myth woven into Christianity, that if I wished it rejected, I would defy everything. which is to say...the perpetuation of that myth means as much to me as its denial
when he dips into theology he's often (to his own admission) somewhat out of his element but he frequently comes up with amazing insight. a lot of it mostly based on other thinkers but the way he tends to re-postulate things is extremely powerful for me
he's not a jew
