Still, I wish I didn't know it. One of the reasons I loved Oblivion was I knew nothing about it, so that's what made it so great. These little things make all the more bothersome that I know it.

for like 10-15 hours until it turns into repetitive bullshit.

objectively, i know a lot of people enjoyed it. if you're really into the story and setting, you'll probably enjoy it. for me it had GTA4 syndrome where my enjoyment wore off and it just turned into a tedious slog by the time i got halfway through mexico. didn't even finish the game. the last time i didn't finish a game i paid $60 for was GTA4, so i might just be disinclined to like rockstar games.

Actually... I'd LIKE to hear about some sky rim quests. All I've seen so far is "dragon screaming" and the animals you can fight.

that's all i know too, and also some of the changes made to the interface and basic gameplay things. but for me the best part about oblivion was encountering cool side quests (like the artist lost in the painting, sleeping at an inn and having pirates take it out to sea, etc.), so i'm fine with that.

considering how many previews i'm read i'm sorta surprised how little i know actually.

also, can anyone with any technical knowledge explain how a game like skyrim is one disc while rage is two? (i know it had three but one is for multiplayer so i don't count that) i know higher-resolution textures take up more space, but i assume skyrim has a ton of dialogue, a much larger world, etc. i don't get how they do it.

It comes with Undead Nightmare too, and the thought of shooting zombies in the Old West REALLY appeals to me.

It's not that Rage has higher resolution textures, it's the engine using what id dubbed "megatextures." Instead of the usual programming style of using 1000 different files to create a level, Rage's engine utilizes one gigantic file for an environment. It allows level artists to make each environment 100% unique and basically paint on the canvas of a megatexture without having to worry about memory limits whereas say in Skyrim, every time they add a new texture or tree or something, there's a possibility of the memory throttling the framerate or some other technical problem. Also, Bethesda is one of the best in the business at programming huge games with such a limited storage capacity. A Bethesda rep said they have much, much better compression tools since Oblivion.

This is just from what I've read so it could be a completely jumbled mess of words above.

i literally got within .3% of the maximum number on the XBLA version and even after pulling out maps and scouring every corner of the map, there's still one tiny one-screen large room or corner that i missed somewhere

Normally, I don't do this but when the game has 300+ possible hours of gameplay it doesn't really spoil anything. I'm also very weak and have absolutely no willpower.
