Batmobiles are like fuzz pedals to me now, crazy features and explosions are fun but original 60s vintage is always the coolest and best.

I'm still sorry it wasn't continued, though I admit it was a tad on the pulpy side...
Hahahahahaha. Oh man.

Exactly as traumatizing as expected. Aronofsky is getting a bit more sentimental, but that's alright.

I sometimes thought about making hand-made label stickers to retitle movies in the video store. Like you'd go into blockbuster to rent Speed but some belligerent retard had put a hand-written label over the title, so that the movie was now called "Fast Bus"
My idea for Elephant Man was "Big Head Goes to Bed"

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
It definitely ruled but the low score may be due to the tv being the giantest piece of shit at this hotel. The color way way too bright and the speaker sounded like a speak n say. Will def watch again when I'm home cause I know I'll like it more in a better setting

The Nun - 5/10
The monastery (more like a castle) they filmed this in looks really cool, but that's about it.

Deadpool 2 ('18 | 119min) - 5.5/10 - As obnoxious as I find Ryan Reynolds, I found it entertaining when I needed to turn off my brain.
The Seduction of Gina ('84 | 94min) - 6.5/10 - Valerie Bertinelli stars as a bored newlywed who discovers that she LOVES gambling in this made-for-TV movie. Some of the synth score was written/performed by Edward Van Halen. Unexpectedly dark.
Avatar: The Way of Water ('22 | 192min) - 8.5/10 - This made me wonder if the core purpose of this was to change the setting from jungles to an ocean so Cameron could indulge further in his passion. Regardless, he pulled off a good story and some incredible effects (I watched this in 3D).

I took a ton of shrooms and saw this in the leather chair recliner awesome theater just for the spectacle and I'll never watch it again but it was great. That's basically my experience with the first one as well. He's going to move to desert or some other nonsense next but I'm in. ONCE.Hunter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 7:04 am

the more time that passes since Avatar 2 came out, the less I care about it. it has a few good moments but... eh. ofc I think 8.5ish is fair, it's just missing so much of the stuff I liked from the first one. the creatures & plants didn't really BRING IT imo.
batman begins 8.2/10
the dark knight 7.7/10
honestly shocked that i liked BB a bit more than TDK

You had the 5D experience, I don't think I'd watch it again after that either!TheDOAD wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:21 pm I took a ton of shrooms and saw this in the leather chair recliner awesome theater just for the spectacle and I'll never watch it again but it was great. I still haven't rewatched the first Avatar, I thought it was ok on a regular ass TV. As it stands, I think the second one is far superior, but it was a much more immersive experience. I'll give #1 another go in the same setting at some point and see how my opinion changes. They both seem somewhat sanitized for broader appeal, though.Necrometer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:47 am the more time that passes since Avatar 2 came out, the less I care about it. it has a few good moments but... eh. ofc I think 8.5ish is fair, it's just missing so much of the stuff I liked from the first one. the creatures & plants didn't really BRING IT imo.

I'm not surprised that you enjoyed BB more, it's the one that has been referenced the least by pop culture. TDK and TDKR both are far more familiar to me, despite having seen them all the same amount of times.

Both have been 4/10 the entire time, it's just that you are a creature that apparently is incapable of understanding the meaning of the words "meaningless infatuation with hollow aesthetics"Necrometer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:47 am the more time that passes since Avatar 2 came out, the less I care about it. it has a few good moments but... eh. ofc I think 8.5ish is fair, it's just missing so much of the stuff I liked from the first one. the creatures & plants didn't really BRING IT imo.
The Avatar movies are just the 21st century equivalent of the Dick Tracy movie: all looks, no depth.

Re: Latest movie you watched (1-10 scale)
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ('23 | 124min) - 2/10 - If there's a song I never need to hear again, it's Born To Be Wild. This features that song a couple times, plus an electro remix at the end - - does it fit the movie thematically? Absolutely not. The only connection I could make was that Aquaman had a baby (that is played by, no joke, NINE completely different looking babies) - but it's played like it's Aquaman's theme song. Awful song aside, the CGI looks like absolute shit half the time, and everything else sucks during the other half. Every performance made the film actively worse. The only time I got a chuckle was when I noticed that an evil henchmen outfit design was copped from Planet of the Vampires. Some directors need a cap on their budgets, and James Wan is at the top of that list, IMO.
