I went back and watched the first episode again...which isn't something I'd normally do so soon, but this is a fucking special occasion

and yeah the dialogue is still awkward in that one even with more context. caught some shit I hadn't before, though.

watched 5 again, too. outrageously good. the m-brane bit :awesome:

is this a show about how it's a show? the m-brane idea, the meta king in yellow shit...how many times have we had this conversation?

yeah i did get a little feeling when cohle was talking about a gaze existing outside of time, or timelessness. superpositionally? then assigning it a name "Them". like he shifts. for lovecraft weird tales *ahem* chambers etc it could be a supernatural being/elder god right? but also yeah i could see it potentially be us assholes watching the show over and over again and posting gifs on the board? :awesome: :wank:

Hopefully not. That seems like a pretty dull layer to add to such a weird show.

this is a good point. his tattoos dont need to satisfy me to be germane to the overall ecology of the shows setting etc

ps i dont even care what happens at this point as long as theres no fucking struggle on the rooftop on a crane for a gun with the king in yellow i think im trustfalling hard for this shit

The actor who played Charlie Lang apparently played guitar while having brain surgery.

Also, Ledoux hung out with Richard Simmons.

I did as well, the first 2...It seemed like a good time; he asks the black detectives right away if they know about the girls school. :o
There's a missing girl billboard that Cohle & Hart drive by in episode 2 ( I think) that Cohle then drives by again in 2002 when he finds the donut shaped devil net.

Also, the king in yellow is the #4 book on Amazon.

I only just noticed that his hands are together in prayer. I thought it was a big head with odd little twig appendages; with a fifth appendage that looked like urine creating a star.

I heard some say that the face tattoo is Richard Ramirez, but I don't think so. If it was him, wouldn't he be wearing an AC/DC hat?

I haven't followed the reactions the show's been getting, but I'm a little curious as to what people who have no background in, or tolerance for, sci-fi/horror/metaphysics think of it. I can't imagine that everyone who was expecting some kind of grim HBO Justified would be completely on board with monologues about the nature of time.

i think its just one amazing layer among many that people can appreciate and though to us it seems unthinkable without it the show still grips with a ton of force. in fact i know it bleeds well into the show whether you're aware of the implications or not..
