Yeah, those songs aren't the best. I think the weird, layered rock on Angel Dust is the main completely solid thing they've done. If you can't get over his theatrical vocals you're not going to be able to enjoy it. It's sort of easy to retroactively hate it because it pretty clearly inspired Korn and their ilk, but I didn't know shit about that when I picked up the CD as a 12-year-old.altars of radness wrote:I don't mean to be a dick, but what is it you people see in Faith No More? Please be specific, because I haven't heard a single song of their's that redeems them for retard catshit like "Epic" and "Falling to Pieces".

He asked what I saw in them..those two albums are it for me. AD is great too but not even close to those albums in terms of songwriting. I know I am in the minority on that though as most prefer AD. KFAD is probably my all time favorite album.Dr Yail Bloor wrote:angeldust? introduce yourself? The Pope of Chili Town wrote:King for a Dayaltars of radness wrote:I don't mean to be a dick, but what is it you people see in Faith No More? dont get me wrong KFAD is fucking fantastic and I intend to have 'just a man' played at my funeral but AD was just something no-one else was doing that well at that time (rose tinted glasses I guess), but then again I still like the real thing so...The Pope of Chili Town wrote:He asked what I saw in them..those two albums are it for me. Everything before hand was pretty meh-tastic for me

I've heard all the records. I thought maybe half of King for a Day was pretty good. Still, I've never heard a FNM song that made me think, yeah, I can see why people would get fanatical about this. I never liked Bungle that much either, but when I listen to them I can at least hear some kind of uniqueness/weirdness that I can see people going nuts for. I've never heard that in FNM, mellow rap-rock of Angel Dust included.Dr Yail Bloor wrote:angeldust? introduce yourself? The Pope of Chili Town wrote:King for a Dayaltars of radness wrote:I don't mean to be a dick, but what is it you people see in Faith No More? Hard to say, although I didn't start listening to FNM/Bungle until I was 19/20.altars of radness wrote: How much of this FNM love is nostalgia?
A good chunk for me, but I can still listen to it now, while I can no longer stomach the other tween-discovered shit (Nirvana, AiC, Pearl Jam).altars of radness wrote:How much of this FNM love is nostalgia?
Man, I can understand not being able to stomach Pearl Jam -- then as much as now -- but to not listen to Nirvana anymore is just sad. I listen to the b-sides from the In Utero era all the time.Necrometer wrote:A good chunk for me, but I can still listen to it now, while I can no longer stomach the other tween-discovered shit (Nirvana, AiC, Pearl Jam).altars of radness wrote:How much of this FNM love is nostalgia?

For me, I think a lot of it is. But the brain has a weird way of relating to shit so whether it's nostalgia or not I don't really care. I still like hearing "Caffiene" and more than a handful of other songs and I think I'd piss myself if I heard them played live, and played well.altars of radness wrote: How much of this FNM love is nostalgia?
