Is anyone picking up a WiiU?
SPOILERSPOILER_SHOW
 Might want to skip Mass Effect 3...sounds like it performs worse than the PS3/360 versions.

Yeah I never see any reason to buy something for $300 when it will be $75 in five years. It's not made out of beef. It will stay the same and wait patiently for me.

It will actually be a lot better in some respects; patches that make the system run better, new controllers, and a shitload deeper game catalogue.

On the other hand if you are playing any multiplayer type games, the online will likely have dried up, which definitely sucks.

I have never, ever bought a console at launch. I do admit that I'll probably end up getting the next gen Xbox or Playstation quicker than I may have with other consoles. We'll see though.
I think the only console I got at launch was the original XBOX, and that was a birthday gift. I might have gotten the N64 at launch for my birthday as well, but I was living away from home and didn't get it till later. As for me buying one, I guess the fastest I ever bought one was the 360, but that had to be near a year after it's release... no, I think it was the Gamecube, actually. I might have bought that super spur of the moment a few weeks after release.

Pisscubes wrote:I guess I can't really blame them for trying to go cross-appeal, but it would never occur to me to buy a Nintendo product for games like Mass Effect and Arkham City. Nintendo to me is where you go for the fun, cartoony games, some RPGs and Mario and Zelda franchises.
I imagine they hope to shake that perception for at least a few years. I'm sure the technology gap will widen again, when the competitions next systems are released, and the library will wind up being just as sparse as it has been for this past generation.

Nintendo's first-party franchises are maintained ferociously well, and every iteration is meaningful. It's almost as though Valve released their games on their own, proprietary format. You simply have to own a Nintendo system to play them. It's an exchange that's always worked for me so far. It's always been easy for me to shrug off bullshit like Tomb Raider or Halo or Modern Warfare, but I do think I missed out on a bit more this past generation as the console experience matured to rival the quality of PC games.

I don't really find any of the stuff that's out for the WiiU interesting at all so far. Not like that means a whole lot, but I figure the well does have to dry up eventually. I don't plan on continuing to buy Zelda or Mario games if they genuinely do start to suck dick.

I've never been a part of any of this. I'm definitely a bit worse off for it. I never had any real interest in paying for an Xbox Live account so that I could play FPS games that aren't Half-Life against pubescent cholesterol demons from the midwest, but it would've been nice to yell at my friends playing some PS3 game or something.

If any PC guys are going to get the new Hitman, use this 35% off code: GMG35-FGR37-COY0B here

They give you a Steam key just before or on release day.

They're saying all the right things like guard posts can be permanently taken over and will benefit the player...kind of like unlocking a safe zone or maybe a merchant moving into that area or something. No malaria!

one of the major problems with 2 though was it's awful gunplay. it wasn't really apparent in single player, but jesus christ, go online and you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. whata fucking joke.

which sucked because on paper the game was stunning

That's exactly what I use it for. Playing Borderlands 2 with my brother and pals from here and from IRL was fucking awesome and a pretty big part of social life in my circles as totally unsurprising as that may be. It's cool to just talk shit with friends and shoot things and not have to leave my place to do so.

Should Leisure Suit Larry be on the list?
Definitely 50.53%
No Way 49.47%

These top whatever lists always suck but the 2000s and beyond list has some awful choices. ME3 but no Baldur's Gate II or Planescape: Torment? Splinter Cell over Chaos Theory? Gears of War but no Resident Evil 4? No Ocarina of Time? Angry Birds? Come on man...

I expect to be mad at the list, but fully half of voters think Leisure Suit Larry isn't a cornerstone in gaming ?!

With that being said I want go back in time and write and aides vs A.I.D.S. style "whose on first" that I think only Laurel & Hardy could deliver.
