Endymion 7.5/10
Rise of Endymion - 6.25/10

I feel kinda bad giving RoE such a low score considering how compulsively I was reading it, but holy fuck Simmons cannot write a love story and his love dialogue was so stilted and painful that I was getting physical douche chills reading it. "Raul my love ?" "Yes Aenea my darling ?" :wank:

The scifi stuff was really great and the symbolism parallels throughout are pretty incredible, though. Worth reading, but a major step down from the Hyperions.

Dune - 9/10

The intricacies of the various plottings and schemings are unparalleled in scifi imho, and the scope of the world and how fleshed out that vision is nearly brings me to tears for what an incredible accomplishment it is.

But are scifi authors all such nerds that they've never had an actual conversation and that's why they can't write believable or relatable dialogue ? Is that it ? And why do they all insist on tormenting us with their fucking truly godawful prose ?? Why ??!?

:!: it's these things that make Dune inaccessible to me

all the world-building shit was exposed to me when I was a tiny kid watching the movie, so the only thing the book really presents to me is the CLUNK

yeah thats how i feel about desriptions of nudity / sex and sexuality in grrm's books, i'd prefer he just go "he grabs her tits, she moans, they start fucking, its hard /scene" instead of the circling of the wagons shit he does instead

The Blade Itself 9/10. Minus one because the Jezal chapters and the middle of the book was a little slow and dull but the ending and intro of new characters in the last third has me pumped for the next book. I do like how the writing style switches up between character chapters.
