Ah badass man. I've always been very curious about LSDJ and similar stuff, but it's so difficult for me to develop any kind of workflow outside of a PC DAW. Working with the actual hardware is fantastic, but it's a huge step down in terms of convenience and control - I feel like any of the good shit I cook up is more the result of experimentation than planning & writing.

I would love to own a little rig like that though.

Yea LSDJ is mostly just going to be something to mess with. If you ever want one I'd do it for you as long as you pay for the backlight and shipping back to you. so it'd be like $15 for the backlight, and maybe $5 for me to ship it back to you. It's pretty cool just to have. Plus it's by far the best way to play some original Gameboy games.

Hahaha wow I've never seen one of those for the original GB. Every once in a while I sulk around weird Chinese websites looking at storage solutions for consoles... that's badass.

Very nice gameboy. I'm actually wanting a green one like that so I can put a pink backlight and buttons in it. I came across one the other day in Tennessee for $16, but I spent my money on Super Famicom games instead.

I actually bought that exact cartridge last night. Can I play pretty much any rom with it? I mainly got it for LSDJ, but being able to play retail games on there would be awesome.

that original GB mod is pretty cool.... although I'd still just rather play those games on a Gameboy Advance SP truthfully - plus Flash carts are easier to come by.

edit - i'd like to see what kinda cool stuff you can do with that audio mod though.

Picked up the Mass Effect Trilogy today, gonna see what all the hoopla is about

Also picked up SFIV for $8 ? Did this game suck real bad or something ?

sfIV is cheap because they pulled a madden and released an updated version that basically renders it useless to people who care about competition

it's a fun game, you'll like it

I thought SFIV was very well-made but ugly.

ugly might be a bit strong but it's not really my cup of tea either. it plays good.

Yes but if you put a gameboy color game rom it will give you a warning that it won't play in the orginal gb. I put the cartridge with a gbc rom in my sp and had no problems.

Alright fucking brutally addicted to stupid ridiculous Carmageddon 1 on Android. They ran some promo where it's free to download for a lil while and I snagged it out of greed/opportunism - turns out in controls MUCH better on a touchscreen port than it EVER did on the PC. A few upgrades in and I'm basically invulnerable - crazy fun. Recommended!

have you played quarantine and its sequel road warrior? '93 and '95 i think. similar to carmageddon with mission based levels and ridiculous humor. road warrior is especially fun.

Blood Dragon = all cheevos 8) (really easy)

pretty fun game overall, but just like far cry 3, when youre out and about in the world, it tends to drag on a bit and the fault's start to show some. the main quest is fun though, with awesome dialog and music. seriously, the music is the best part of this game.

going on a killing spree in the game's final moments to this song was pretty fucken cool though

was fun, but not so sure i would be chomping at the bit to play again 7/10

What do you guys think about this? http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/ ... _joe_rant/

I hate pre-order GameStop bullshit as much as everyone else, but I can't help but  at all the frothing buttmadness happening over this issue.

If this game underperforms thanks to nerds canceling their pre-orders en masse, all it's going to do is give publishers another reason to think twice before releasing games that aren't rigidly modeled on the COD/Assassin's Creed AAA checklist. Hardcore bamers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your games

I feel like it's also worth noting that all the stupid DLC in the world is still infinitely less mercenary than the ruthless, quarter-sucking behavior of so many "classic" arcade games from the Age When Games Were Pure and Untainted By Commercialism.

im not going to through all that but harder difficulties should not be on the table. that's pretty unacceptable in my book. part of what makes a game and development what it is is difficulty and making things harder should alter how you experience the game and increase its complexity and depth. its not negotiable like a different ninja outfit or a camoflague skin for your stupid gun.

i dont know

No, you're right. Geoff always jokes about the ending of a game being DLC (although isn't that the case with Dead Space 3), but this is about on par. What next, DLC for activating the jump button.

and skyrim just released a free patch after having been out for who fucking knows how long that among many other things it fixed, introduced 'legendary' difficuluty and also allows you to reset your 100 point skill trees to go back to 15 and refunds you the perks. etc

just think about that one..

I don't really disagree with any of that. But from what I gather the publishers were basically forced to do this by retailers, and to me it seems like the height of self-absorbed internet shittiness to boycott the game over it. Unless you stop buying games altogether, you're still going to be supporting game retail and by extension pre-orders, DLC, etc. Game underperforms, studio shuts down, title becomes a cautionary tale next time someone's thinking about making a sequel to a cool sleeper hit.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that people are piling on this game and the game doesn't deserve it--the retailers do. They clearly should've just chosen an extra mission as DLC, since people are used to that. But since this is the first case I can recall of a game mode like this as DLC it's a shitstorm, even though they were trying to serve the fans (however ill-advised their choice). An explanation from the publisher:
Game makers and publishers now live in a world where offering game content as a pre-order exclusive is a requirement by retail, and Ranger Mode seemed like the best choice since it was a mode for hardcore fans who would most likely pre-order the game, or purchase it at launch in any case,” said Beynon. “We rejected requests to make story content or additional missions exclusive. We also rejected requests to make this a timed exclusive.
I'm sure they're regretting it now.

I pre-ordered this game a while ago because I never got to play the first one. Not canceling 8)

EDIT: a quote from the Reddit comments
For example, I am going to pre-order AC:4, GTA:V, Grid 2, etc.
"Fucking sell-out bullshit, I won't be supporting this shameless cash-in because I hate what the video game industry has become. Now pardon me while I pre-order FUCKING ASSASSIN'S CREED 4"

 I'm on the Long Island Rail Road right now and I just heard the Knight Rider theme coming somewhere from the car. I don't believe in coincidence. Must be Knight Rider day then.
