That made me feel ill.

I would never make it past the first screen save one flukish time in which I would die on the second screen.

That's him. If he's an early Souls adopter, fine, duly noted. The man has taste. Doesn't change the fact that I find his reviews unbearable, though, and Gamespot is an even bigger bunch of shills than IGN.
Just wondering, what's your preferred source for reviews? I gave up on IGN years ago, never heard that about Gamespot, though.

I really go by word of mouth (this board, for example), Youtube videos and demos more than anything. But if I'm going to actually listen to a review website's opinion, it's usually Eurogamer. And Yahtzee's honest, but he's also openly 100% subjective, so I don't always agree with him.

The story about Gamespot is that they fired a guy for writing a negative review because the publisher didn't like it. I can't remember the specifics anymore, but they're a bunch shills as much as IGN is.

Gamespot used to be a tough review site back in early 2K. Then they got too popular and started taking bribes. One guy didn't go along with it (Kane & Lynch?) and to all came out in the open. Eurogamer reminds me of what Gamespot once was. Sometimes Gametrailers seems spot on in their reviews.

Fiddled with Skyrim modding again. Now it looks almost photo realistic in parts.

Yeah, I think it was the first Kane & Lynch game. AFAIK that was basically when everyone lost faith in Gamespot. Now they're just a poor man's IGN, with slightly more tedious video reviews.

Surely there are enough game "journalists" now to have a black arts review site that rolls up anonymous reviews ahead of game launch dates so people can know about games BEFORE they come out rather than when they get home with a 5 hour game.

My arms are firmly crossed when games claim to be inspired by the Souls games and arrogantly shake my head at most pixel art retro games but this looks pretty cool.

I don't give a fuck. I bought Evil Within off Steam for a slightly reduced price and I'm going to play it with an infinite ammo cheat because I hate survival horror and this game looks like ass to me.

I caved and got Dying Light to give me something to do the three weeks ahead of Bloodbourne.

I like it better than the Dead Island games so far.

i bought dying light last week and its been great so far. the suspense of running around at night really wears me out though, there are some mandatory at night quests that sometimes have me like "fuck this, im gonna get drunk and watch netflix"

it is. i had a blast. i know zombie games are a bit worn out (and they are), but a great game is a great game, regardless of genre

The spiderman superpower kinda deflates Dying Light, ruins the Far Cry 2 vibe.

I wish I had played New Vegas when you dudes all did. I want to talk about how I just walked up to Ceasar and shot his head off his neck for talking down to me. Now I'm strutting around the Strip wearing his armor. NCR is threatening me as well. Three days to prove myself? You've got three days to shut up or I'm wasting all you assholes as well. First DLC was kind of meh. Probably start the second one once I finish a few Yes missions and finish a bounty hunter mod.

Who's your companion, TheBill? If it isn't Boone then I don't want to know.

I got Boone to follow me no problem when I tried the game back in 2010 on the 360, but this time I can't get anyone to go in front of the dinosaur. Maybe a glitch? Anyhow I travel with Willow & Vanessa. Both are mod companions that are very well done with thousands of lines of dialogue each and their own quests. Plus they both have sex with me.

I'm in the Dying Light fanboy camp, too. I really expected it to be bullshit, but it was super fun, a bit tense and only mildly frustrating when you are just like moving along and for no reason you just die.
