Unfortunately, this is a common mindset amongst many Field Grade Officers (Majors/Lt Colonels) who are in transition period to begin moving in Commander positions.
Fortunately, the younger officers coming in, who were not part of OIF and OEF, have a completely different view on the world which I think is for the better.
I have 7 years left of this shit

If I die a horrible food related death, I'm sure Waffle House will be involved somehow.

Waffle House is great. They mix omelets in a shake blender so they're nice and fluffy.

What's most impressive is you can feed a family of 4 for the price of a couple of pints of Brooklyn Lager.

"My first beer I ever tried was Natty Light. Not even the regular kind. Once my buddies and I started drinking Yuengling, that was it, I couldn't go back to the cheap shit."
Same guy later in the conversation.
"When they started selling [Yuengling] around here, my dad bought me a 12 pack. He was like, 'I heard this was the good stuff.' But he didn't know he bought Yuengling Light by accident. It was disgusting."
Fucking beer afficionado over here...
