is this one funny? the jar obviously popped, that means it wasn't opened before. i don't get it.
It says "Button will pop if seal is broken" on the top of her lid in the 3rd panel.
I see nick's point here though. in real life, the button only pops the first time you open the jar...

Pisscubes wrote:You guys are missing the point. He puts his hand on top of her lid, and it makes the pop sounds. He hasn't "opened her yet", and if that button makes any kind of noise when you put pressure on i it, the jar has been unsealed.
YES!!!! That makes perfect sense! So it was popping back and forth with NO twisting done on PB's part. Finally - clarity!

He's not opening the jar, he's pressing the button to see if it's been popped before and the lid screwed back on, which then does make a pop every time you press it.
EDIT - dammit, slower than a speeding Pisscube

frame 3 doesn't take place at the same local as frame 1 and 2. frame 3 is the two gangsters making up for their "mistake"

Necrometer wrote:This one is sort of flawed I think... my take is that his intention was that the top half of the second panel is PB's expectation of what should happen, then when he hears no POP, he's furious. It's tough to draw silence, right?
Wait... whoa... just REALLY read what Pisscubes said that's insane. What sort of button pops if opened? Bad move, comic guy.
No no no no. A snapple lid will become 'loose' once the vacuum seal is broken, and so his hand brushing the veil from her head caused it to divot and therefore 'pop'. You can pop a snapple lid as much as you want.
The top half of the second panel is not an imagination sequence. Is that what you are saying? Why would you even think that? It is the second thing to happen, and the bottom half of the frame is the third thing to happen.

We already sorted this all out... My (wrong) interpretation was that he twisted the lid in 2b, and that 2a showed his expectation. I mentally ruled out him brushing against it to make the noise... anyway it's a good comic. I am a bad reader.

My love for PBF is very very deep and multifaceted. I have always loved extremely detailed and well-rendered comic strips... I grew up on Calvin and Hobbes, and as far as I'm concerned PBF is the only worthy successor to C&H so far.
If you will notice, sexual infidelity is by far the most common theme in the strip. There seems to be no such thing as an honorable woman in PBF land.

That took me like two seconds. There are some, however, I still don't get. If there was a nice way to look at them all online in order I would use this as an excuse to do so now. No luck.
